Upgraded Dynaco FM-5 Tuner

I just picked up this Dynaco FM-5 Tuner from a second hand store. It works fine but when I researched it for more info I noticed mine looked a little funky from behind. Someone added some caps and the whole back end looks very modified.
Anybody have a clue as to what might of happened?
