Define "seems to work". Are you measuring static charge with a meter or going on the absence of sparks and crackling sounds? Also, it's a bit unclear; are you wiping the LP with the dryer sheet or just the platter beforehand?
Turntable/Album static elimination
I’ve been reading this and that of static eliminator devices, cleaning brushes etc, all in an effort to knock back static…I have been experimenting reducing static from my turntable and albums by using a dryer sheet. I lightly hold the sheet over the platter (as you might a cleaning brush), stopping the platter before placing the album on the platter, then starting the turntable and doing the same before using the cleaning brush and lowering the stylus and dust cover. It seems to work for me. Please let me know your thoughts after testing.
