Tune of the Day

"Blue Rondo a la Turk"  on the Two Generations of Brubeck album.  Wow.

There are many fine versions of this tune, but this one gets me dancing, clapping, fist-pounding, whatever, every time....and it's not easy to dance in, what, 9/8?  I love tunes that grow, build, develop, and move through changes.  This one just picks me up and takes me right along with it.  Great melding of jazz and rock idioms, too.  It's fun to imagine Dave Brubeck setting the groove and then sitting back to hear where his kids and their friends take it.

You can continue exploring Dave and the kids on Two Generations of Brubeck, "The Great Spirit Made Us All".  And Chris Brubeck's rock/jazz band Sky King on "Secret Sauce".

For extra credit, give a "spin" to Chase, "Bochawa" from their last album, Pure Music.

Anyway, that's my two cents today.

Ritchie Sacramento - "Mogwai"

One of the best new rock song I've heard in the last several years. From 2021.

The 2 original albums from Jellyfish are "Bellybutton" and "Spilt Milk". Fantastic albums.

Shudder to Think - "Animal Wild"

One of the many EXCELLENT songs from the album Sweet Relief - A Tribute to Victoria Williams.

Listening to the Rush remaster of "Presto" on vinyl tonight. Here's a good mid-school era Rush tune from "Presto".

Rush - "The Pass"

@slaw - I love "My Father's Daughter" from the Flag Day Soundtrack. I believe I discovered it through one of your posts. Eddie Vedder's teenage daughter Olivia sounds great on that recording...

Thanks Brother!

@boxer12  - Elvis Costello / Let Him Dangle

Reminds me, I need to spin my copy of Spike. Haven't played it in a while. Probably in my top 5 favorite Elvis Costello albums.

Butts Band, Stay With Me

I think that’s "Be With Me"

I have that album from The Butts Band...

@curiousjim  - I'm a huge dada fan. The album "Puzzle" is excellent all the way through. All killer, no filler. Was fortunate to see them live a couple of time, including this past summer. Took my 20 year old son, was right down on the front of the stage. Turned him into a super fan...
