Tube Voltage Rating Question

If a tube comes in 2 versions one with a 6 volt heater and one with a 2 volt heater where everything else is the same what would happen if the tube with the lower heater voltage rating is used in a preamp designed for the 6 volt version?

Filament touches cathode and the tube is short and ready to show some fireworks with fried PCB, wires, caps.

It will burn out and could cause a short in some cases. The filament will most likely break off and could touch something else. I wouldn't even think about trying it. If you put a 6 volt tube in a 2 volt tubes socket, it would never warm up enough to start working right.
