tube heat

I just built new shelving for my all tube stereo gear; amp, preamp& cd player. I'm now concerned with the heat build up. What's a safe temperature for these components to run at? What's the best method for heat dissipation? Cones, fans, etc. I welcome any responses

Open air ventilation is all you need, no fans necessary.

Don't put them in a cabinet with doors. If you must, remove the back of the unit, spread the shelves as far from each other as possible and keep it a few inches off the back wall. But really, don't do it. Cheers,

Get a hold of some O2 Cool battery powered fans and aim them at the output tubes. Problem solved.

Geofkait-let's agree to disagree...Battery powered fans can work but I would point the fans away from the amp to passively pull air over the amp.  I've heard noise from the air blowing.  Also, by blowing on the amps you will get dust build up over time.

Actually, the O2 Cool fans are dead silent. Which is one reason I recommended them. They are especially useful on some amps like high power headphone amps that tend to run rather hot, like the Bada I used to have. And the fans pointing toward the tubes will actually prevent dust build-up, not the opposite, no?

Try em, you’ll like em.
