Tube gear under $2k?

Ok, when I bought my speakers, I auditioned them with various gear, but my favorite was the Manley Stingray. The problem is that I plan on also running my tv through my 2 channel system, so I really want a remote! At this price, I figure I need to go used to get a remote. Anyway, I'd like my system to be fast & detailed, with tight, quick bass and with some slam. I listen to jazz, metal, trip-hop, classic rock, folk, electronic... pretty much everything. I know I have a lot of demands and little money (relatively) to spend on them, but what can I do? Anyway, I need suggestions/opinions! HELP!!! Thanks in advance!

Of course I forgot to mention that this system will be in a fairly large living room, that has a large opening into the dining room... so I think I need at least 40W.
The Rogue Tempest is a greast amp with lots of power and remote. It uses KT88's and is switchable ultralinear/triode 60w/40w. I think that new they are $1995 and you can find them used.... If you can go for one with the MAgnum upgrade which is a major parts upgrade and more importantly much better output transformers... I notice the here time to time @ $1600-1700. Especially f you go for the Magnum this amp has some serious Kick.

I have had both the regular and Magnum Tempests Driving Audio Physic Virgo II's.
Another choice may be the Consonance M100se. 40W push pull EL34 based integrated with remote. The amp portion is supposed to be the same as the "ELLA" kit from DIYHIFISUPPLY which has gotten rave reviews. List is $1800, IIRC.
I think that for the type of music you are listening to you are barking up the wrong tree with tubes. What is your current setup? This could really help in deciding what you get. A used Plinius 8200 might be great for a "tubelike" feel. You can get them for less than $1500. 175 watts.
