Triangles are incredibly detailed but never clinical speakers. I've had both their monitor and floor stander models over the years and keep coming back to them. Simply a well made, acoustically gorgeous speaker. They pair well with tube equipment.

Hey @roxy54 can you tell me a little bit more about the benefits of smaller speakers in your room? I have Focal Sopra's crammed in my 9x13 room and have considered testing out smaller standmount speakers (Harbeth, Splendor), but I'm just not interested in subs and the headache that seems like to deal with. I've also been concerned I'm going to give up detail, but I'd love to be wrong there. |
Hello @j-wall , I recently changed (upgraded!) from very large floor standers (Revel Salon 2) to stand mounts and could not be happier. In my family room which is not small, the Revel's dominated and took up a large amount of space. I bought a pair of Dynaudio Contour 20i's, intending them for another house. But, we hooked them up and were blown away. Note I do have nice electronics, with Audionet Max amps. The detail and resolution on the Dynaudio's was way ahead of the older Revel's. But their ability to scale up for the large room, and reach down to decent tight bass was astonishing. Since my wife was smitten with the small appearance, (even with the stands they appear much smaller and visually fit in the room better), I immediately climbed up the Dynaudio line, finding the top end Confidence 20 in the light oak. I really had to try these to believe. The standmount's image and coherences is par non. Better resolution and soundstage, and still room filling music. I do run subs, and did even with the Salons. But with the subs turned off, most people would still be happy. |
