To go new or to go vintage?

Finally getting a legitimate set up going picking up my yaqin tube amp tomorrow but I still don't have speakers. So the question popped in my head should I buy new or vintage?

The only one that can answer the question of new or vintage is you and your ears. Try to get out and listen to as many speakers as you can. If you have any audio friends, hit them up. Of course listening to vintage speakers is probably going to involve CL,so beware of that.
The thrill of the hunt can be very exiting! Enjoy!!
If you don't want to spend a lot on speakers, BestBuy has Elac Debut 2.0 for $150 off at $209.98 pair. They sound good and received many good reviews - check them out if BestBuy is near you - not all stores have them though so you might want to call ahead of time, but you can buy them online at Bestbuy.com

   Hope this helps.

Someone mentioned eloquently that vintage is history - but I enjoy the warm sound alnico magnets of JBL studio 4412, 4430 etc over B&W Diamond line and they cost $16,000! There are many vintage speakers to hunt down -- especially at their low prices offered at used market, so you will get more quality for the same money.

if you google for "Best vintage speakers" you will find many websites discussing likes of BBC monitors, spender, Kef, Rogers, SpicaTC-50, Jbl, etc.

Another good thing about vintage gears is, as I mentioned before, that you can resell them at the cost many times, so you can audition many before settling with your favorites...
Well the good news is the amp is working and bad ass!! The bad news I I had to dump another 200 for speakers and a turntable cause my dual 1019 both of them just would not cut it the feedback was ridiculous. I just got a 150$ black friday sony whatever ps-lx310bt fancy schmancy thing... the pre amp sucked so I used my bellari pa 550 which is actually nice cause I have another volume control and a treble and bass
adjustment. The speakers I got for now ar cerwin
vega l7s studio monitors I got them for 50$ from a really nice dude. So it sucks my duals are garbage I need to have them serviced. But this sony is working good and everything sounds good. Guess I'll get the duals serviced whenever probably going to sell one and swap the sony with the other.
I will keep you posted just hoping he fallows through supposed to meet him in about 3 hrs
I will by used whether vintage or new stuff. This way, you can resell them and not lose too much money, and it’s fun to try new gears, and sell the ones you don’t like.

Vintage speakers like JBL studio 4412, 4430, etc sound real good to me - even compared to new stuff, with their alnico magnets not seen in new ones. There are many vintage ones to hunt down, but you might want to re-do the x-over as capacitors dry out over time.

   Happy hunting...

I heard good things about the amp you are buying - keep us posted as to how it sounds...Happy thanks giving.
