Thoughts on using a smart plug on intergrated amp.

I listen to music mostly at night before bed. My intergrated amp doesn't have a signal sense and doesn't turn off after music stops playing so when I wake up in the middle of the night I shut it off. What are your thoughts of using a smart plug on the amp so I can set a sleep timer? What effect if any will it have on the audio? Will it cause any issues to the amp by turning power on/off this way?

jeffbij, I'm using the WiiM pro ( 12V trigger ) which I control by Amazon Echo, do not need to use the smart plug for this. This combo works great together. I tell Alexa to shut off in 20 minutes and now the music stops and the amp shuts off. I no longer have to use the remote to turn on/off amp.

Excellent.  Glad it is working so easily with the WiiM Pro.

I believe a switched mode 12V power supply would work with the smart plug too, the power supply I got probably would work but it takes a while to discharge so the voltage drops enough to shut the amp off. I never left it on long enough to find out.

Since the Micromega M-100 Trigger In can accept 5v to 12v, if in the future your source does not offer a trigger output option, my suggestion would be to use a 5V or 6V supply instead of the 12V supply, which will significantly reduce its discharge time.
