Thorens TD 160 upgrading?

Hi all, recently scored a THorens 160 and am seeking advice on upgrading or improving the table short of the $500-800 tonearms. I might could go $250 or so for the rega 251 or 300s. However, I am open to suggestions for other arms, cartridges, damping, or Thorens arms that are better than the stock arm; also any rewiring that I could do. Thnx for any and all suggestions.

Hi, I bought an TD 160 super for my son and added an new
Rega 301 + aluminium base (from the UK). Steve described the whole issue very precise. One should be very careful with the belts.I am still looking for 'the best'mat but,alas, without much succes. But for the price this is still an fantastic TT.
