roberjerman, I was told by a Jelco dealer that Jelco is out of business and was told me about the Sorane as an alternative. Anyway, I was sort of thinking that I shouldn't bother with the TP 16 modification. The cartridge I'm currently using is an Audio Technica 33 mono Anniversary but would like to step up to a higher end mono cartridge. I only see Fidelity Research 24 and 54 on eBay. I'm unfamiliar with the FR tonearms.
Thoren's TP 16 MK 1
Hi,
I still have the original tonearm on my Thoren's TD 145 MK 1, the early TP 16. I was thinking of having it modified by a professional. My humble knowledge of this process would mean stripping the tonearm to it's basic mechanics and a rewire. The adhesive on the anti skate needs replacing. The original bearings seem solid. I would like to buy a Sorane TA 1 or Thomas Schick 9" but I don't know when I'll have the funds. Is the TP 16 MK 1 worth the trouble and if so, what should I expect cost wise?
