Thoren's TP 16 MK 1

Hi,
I still have the original tonearm on my Thoren's TD 145 MK 1, the early TP 16. I was thinking of having it modified by a professional. My humble knowledge of this process would mean stripping the tonearm to it's basic mechanics and a rewire. The adhesive on the anti skate needs replacing. The original bearings seem solid. I would like to buy a  Sorane TA 1 or Thomas Schick 9" but I don't know when I'll have the funds. Is the TP 16 MK 1 worth the trouble and if so, what should I expect cost wise?

Not worth modifying! Get a Jelco arm instead. What cartridge do you plan to use? If it is a low-complance mc an even better choice is a used FR 29 or 34 from Japan eBay. For under $500! I have the FR 29 with a Sleeping Beauty mc on my Ariston RD11. The older FR arms bought from Japanese sellers are superb values!
