Does anyone else like Classe CAM 400 Monos for these speakers? Preamp TBD.

@georgehifi I am open to any suggestions. I have a dealer who sells and loves Pass Labs. Frankly it’s one brand I can’t remember anyone badmouthing at all. @mapman I have owned a Bel Canto Preamp and liked it a lot. The Ref 600 intrigues me and my dealer sells them so maybe I can demo them also. |

Simaudio 700 is an awesome match with the Dynaudio C1 and I should definitely consider it.
@audiotroy seem to get a bad rap on here. They are trying to sell gear but I take their enthusiasm as a love for the product.

I have the Dynaudio C-1 Platinums hooked up to a borrowed Pass Labs XP 12 Preamp and Pass Labs XA 25 amp. it sounds great so far but I might try a bit more power in the amp dept. Any opinions or is everyone content to destroy Audiotroy?

The 60.8 monos are on my short list also. Any comments on these amps are appreciated. |
The XP 12 preamp and XA 25 amp are sounding very good but I think a more powerful amp may be in order. I am sold on the XP 12 Preamp. These are in the price range but I am toying with the idea of the 260.8 monos which are quite a bit more.

I think I’m going to buy the new Pass Labs XP 12 preamp. It’s a nice piece. I like continuity and assume synergy with those amps. @georgehifi . |

I guess it’s a matter of opinion but i have run a Exogal Comet Dac into Parasound JC-1s and felt it was a little leaner than with a preamp. Would this be the same thing? @

I guess ‘the absolute sound’ is not my only goal. I want the music to sound good to my ears. If ‘coloration’ does that then so be it. These ‘auditions’ you speak of don’t exist. At these audio stores they follow you around like you’re going to steal something. After five minutes if you don’tsay that you’re going to buy the speakers they get frustrated with you. I have met a dealer that works out of his home that is much cooler about it though. |
@dsremer I will be getting 260.8 monos from Pass Labs or 60.8. The XA 25 is not enough juice. I agree. I will have plebty with monos. I am going to stick with the XP 12 preamp. I’m enjoying all the suggestions and interesting asides on this thread.Thankyou everybody. |
I need opinions on the Odyssey Stratos Extreme mono amps for powering the Dynaudio C-1 Platinum speakers. I have purchases a set based on things I’ve heard.

Right now I have a borrowed XA 25 which is a little short on the power the Dynaudios would like. I think It’s great if you have easily driven speakers.

I’ve sold the Devialet 400. Frankly,I didn’t like it. I may still buy the Pass Labs and it would probably be 260.8 mono with the xp-12 preamplifier. In the mean time I got a decent deal on the Odyssey gear and figured I would see how pleased I could be on the cheap. I’m pretty certain that the Pass Labs are the end game but damn! So much money. |
I appreciate your input @georgehifi . What is your opinion of the 260.8 monos vs. 60.8? I will be using the XP-12 preamp for either.

I decided to go a little less expensive route. I bought some Odyssey Stratos Extreme mono blocks with an Odyssey Tempest Preamp. So far I really love the sound and feel like I can live with this sound for the foreseeable future.
