Thiel Owners

Guys-

I just scored a sweet pair of CS 2.4SE loudspeakers. Anyone else currently or previously owned this model?
Owners of the CS 2.4 or CS 2.7 are free to chime in as well. Thiel are excellent w/ both tubed or solid-state gear!

Keep me posted & Happy Listening!

How wide is the slot and how deep from the inside / back to the start of the flare? Is the inside edge eased / rounded in any way?
The slot is about 1/2" wide x 12" long, inside the speaker there’s a about 1" thick x 2.5" height wooden wall around the slot (as port tube?), and yes it is rounded on the slot side.
Hope it help.
For the visually inclined among you I have posted some photos on the diy audio forum.

@holco
Very nice! thanks for sharing, would you please upload your photos on your system page so all audiogon members can see it too?
I found an image of a supposedly CS6 xover for the midrange. Based on the image, it seems the xover employs an all-pass filter for the midrange.
@andy2 Would you post a link to the image? thanks

The speaker terminal plate opening is 2" w X 2.75" h on CS 2.4, no problem to install two set of binding posts.

I use PowerPlane for side surround and ViewPoint for back.

IMO, the powerpoint, powerplane and viewpoint are comparable sonically.

My CS2.4 serial number 384X, the last digit faded out unreadable, this is xover photo taken 5 years ago before modding.

How do I post a picture from my phone here?

You can create your virtual system by clicking the pull-down menu as shown

pull-down menu

Click on the "Virtual Systems", then go to "Create Systems" and you can upload your pictures.

Open the picture that you want to post in a new Tab, then copy the URL to your post.

@improvedsound

When I completed building the xover boards, I let it run for 24 hours with a dummy load for the components to settle then hook it up to the speaker drivers. At first, it sounded like a AM pocket radio, after a few hours play time, sound quality keep improving until about 100 hours then the SQ become stable and the sound open up with a holographic sound stage... YMMV!

I think that makes sense. The Thiel sensitivity is about 6dB higher than the Kef (90.7dB vs 84.5dB according to Stereophile’s meansurement).
