The science of opinion ...

Some may find this interesting (it is).

Some may find this threatening (it isn't, it is science).

Some may read it and use it to help them understand the dynamics of internet forums.

asvjerry,

"After getting through.............toothbrushes...."
Curaprox. 5460 athough lesser numbers are decent, too.

Nothing will be the same.

That is my opinion. Pure science.
"Hi! Is this the Dr. Phil Show?"
Not quite. Audition for your character is third door to the left. "To Fuse or to Cable" thread.
asvjerry,

Cocaine "derivatives" (not quite, but its cousins so to say) are usually used for "not-mind-altering-anesthesia". Think local, topical, spinal, etc. PCP cousin (ketamine) could make you talk gibberish while not really being there. Not that I have an answer, or that it matters, but just like that heart attack and pacemaker. Apples in the apple bag, oranges to orange bag. Well, maybe you can ask what it was so, in case you need it next time, you can pick and choose.
asvjerry,

"Done with a cocaine variant, wide awake but more buzzed than anything done on a 'recreational' occasion."
More likely "a PCP/LSD variant"?
geoffkait,

I may be laughable, but I am not trying to be a comedian.
"The roads in the town where I come from don’t stop at the edge of town."
They wanted to make sure you can leave.
geoffkait,

"I bet you don’t."
Another bet you lost.

Nevermind, it does not really matter.
erik_squires,

"...it discussed the idea of identity of the self and what we own."
Did it say anything about people who do not own a watch? Are they even considered people, or they do not matter?
"You mean like I don't mind and you don't matter??
🙄🤔"
The post of the thread (so far).
geoffkait,

Who knows, maybe your reputation preceeded you and they woke you up in the middle of the procedure on purpose.
geoffkait,

I understand you. At least the anesthesia part.

Did you ask for half of the money back from the anesthesiologist?
asvjerry,

General anesthesia is, in fact, one step from death but this was the first time I saw those moments described in such a detail. You obviously have a very vivid memory of that time.Thank you.

At times, it can be a step cavalier a bit too much. Michael Jackosn would attest, if he only could.
geoffkait,

"Do you recall what Clemenceau once said about war?"

"When he said that, 50 years ago, he might have been right."
If you are talking about Georges Clemenceau, I am not sure when he said that, but he died in 1929. It is not 1979 anymore. It is 2019.
Oh, no, hopefully nobody started mentioning communism. We have been through this before and it would have been an embarrassment for all involved. Had all involved only had a clue what they were writing.
You could have told me that before I went for ear candling. I thought something was wrong with my hearing.

You don't really care about music, do you?
I read this "But as Bob Dylan says at the end of all his records, good luck to you." so many times but am yet to hear it.
geoffkait,

"Geez, I leave for a little while and when I come back a bromance is in full bloom. 🌺🌺🌺"
You snooze, you lose. Don't be jealous.
asvjerry,

Didn't Mick Jagger have something like that recently? Maybe it was a different valve.

I apologize, mentioning heart attack and pacemaker just raised an alert so I was trying to make sure you do not confuse those two. Not that I think you are not much better expert than me now, but sometimes we notice what is happening to others much more than what is happening to us.
thyname,

Neither do I use headphones, actually earphones, at home. I rarely use Bluetooth speakers at home, too. However, I do use earphones from time to time while travelling.
asvjerry,

Wow, that is a story.

In my question, I was really trying to separate arrhythmia and "heart attack" (infarct) from obstruction, etc.
thyname,

I am serious. My IE 80 are even balanced. How about your headphones?

I have been to Herford a number of times.
thyname,

I saw that Innuos machine recently. Can storage be expanded? 1TB seems quite stingy on space, no matter what magic dust was sprinkled on it. What is the deal with DSD? It does not list it under playable formats but lists it under sample rates.

EDIT: Nevermind, I just noticed it can be up to 4TB.
thyname,

Things from those links actually produce sounds/music and are, as I mentioned last night, what I mostly listen to. It may seem low-end and not worth bragging rights but it works. I am not mentioning car stereo that I use at times and I forgot to list my Walkman and earphones (IE 80, MDR EX800ST, PK2, not to look for links now).

I own a few more pieces of equipment that are a little bulkier but they barely ever get turned on. I even own turntables (plural).

That is one pretty amplifier you have. It brings back memories of that town.
I won't have a heart attack. (Have a defib/pacemaker, anyway...*L*)
On a more serious note, does pacemaker protect you from heart attack?
If three trurntables are "nearly" in that "nearly all digital", what would only one be?

I got knocked out by all that equipment listed. I think I will stick sparing with geoffkait, his system is much more aligned with mine. Maybe I should befriend him on Twitter. I just have to be careful not to befriend him on Tinder by mistake.

Yes, yes, pointless blathering. And your point is?
asvjerry,

"But I will return...."
I believe that threats violate audiogon's policies.
thyname,

"When are you going to post your system Master?"

Ok, ok, we get it. Tell us what you have. It probably beats geoffkait’s and mine combined. Maybe even an additional atdavid’s.

Tell us.

Helloooooo, elizabeth!
thyname,

"In a few days, you will have more posts than me, and I joined in 2005."
Be careful, you are running too fast. Since the beginning of this thread, you posted 35 times on this thread while atdavid did 46. Since the beginning of this thread, November 5, 2019, you posted 64 times on all audiogon threads while atdavid did it 98 times. He did it on wider variety of threads, though, spreading posts.

You are surely not a slacker when it comes to posting. At least not recently. What happened since 2005? How come you are so active now?
uberwaltz,

Don’t get me wrong, but your post about pointless blathering was no more on point than any of geoffkait’s, mine, or anybody else’s posts in this thread.

Even your report about what you are doing now could not pass into The Science of Opinion.
It was pointless blathering, as far as this thread is concerned. Good news is that this thread is made for pointless blathering so nobody will be bothered by your posts, either.

There are many on-point threads on audiogon where people discuss things that can be discussed. You participate in them and gain something. At the same time, there are threads like this that may be pointless from the title to your last post.

Having said that, what is your opinion about Ethan Winer?
"Food for the soul."
"Soothing the soul right now with The Beatles."
This thread was about opinions, not about dealing with spirituality in times of trouble, but we will not take it against you. Let us know if we can be of any help. We will stay on point when times call for it.
Pointless blathering is, in fact, the point.

Listening to music and pointless blathering may not be mutually exclusive.
asvjerry,
...guess all the old codgers 'peaked early' and had to go lie down.
Spent over 5 pages ultimately proving the original post and burnt themselves out.

What happened? You could not find your way in? It has been at least 3-4 days for those 5 pages. Come on, we gave you enough time.
When it comes to Audio Engineering Society, I have been on audiogon long enough to think I am qualified to participate...

I will tell you so we settle this once and for all.

His name is Donald.

Donald Duck.

Ask him for autograph.
thyname,

"When I pointed this out on a FB group.......................then he called me an idiot, threw a graph in my face, etc. etc."
"And I like Ethan. I have blocked many obnoxious fake scientists and puppets in Facebook, but I have not blocked Ethan. I will never block Ethan, no matter what. I find my exchanges with him very amusing."
Love really moves in mysterious ways.

Along the same lines, in just a month will be 150th anniversary of Fanny Pistor’s contract. Don't say you did not learn anything on this thread. Cheers!
thyname,

We are all getting old at the same rate. According to stories that people write here, I got an impression I am trailing a little behind most.

It seems to me that, once people get really old, they start obsessing over unimportant things. Like minutia of reproduction of fake sounds or snatching the seat in public transportation.
thyname,

Most of the music I hear comes from an Internet radio via $50-100 Bluetooth speakers (iHome Arc and JBL Charge 3) or through a Walkman driving earphones. At least I have a few pairs of earphones. Today is a little different, I turned on amplifier and music server which, again, has been playing Internet radio. I can tell the difference in sound, but I cannot tell you one is better than the other one when music actually plays.
"You can’t even get the sentence correct..."
"His sentence was grammatically incorrect, that’s true. But it was very close. And I think it shows he was trying."
Guys, do not forget it may be someone's third or fourth language.
"...tiny pro speakers on kiddie stools from Walmart..."
For years, my only system was a $100 boombox on a Walmart stool. It seems that those soul saviors had gotten me way before I heard about them.
geoffkait,

"Does it help to have somebody to talk to?"
Crazy as it may seem, I come here so I do not have to talk to anyone. I come here for calmness of the place. Remainder of my days I am chased by people who want me to order them around.

"I’m thinking of asking the doctor to increase my medication."

Double the lithium.

On a completely different note, what was the word? Verbosity?
"...for whatever reason I seem to be on a roll today."
For once, you are correct. Note to youself: put it down in your calendar, occassion like this does not happen often.
Good news!

The bird with a machine gun lasted only a few seconds.

I disagree with male vs. female German Shepherd talk, though.
