The science of opinion ...

Some may find this interesting (it is).

Some may find this threatening (it isn't, it is science).

Some may read it and use it to help them understand the dynamics of internet forums.

Three more years and we are there. Hold on tight.

What comes after audio forums?
geoffkait,

teo_audio already clarified that one. He/they started using smaller calculators for hummingbirds. There was a problem with horses. Which makes me question his initial statement about Ethan Winer's use of calculators.
Not every thread gets derailed. This one has such a broad and open topic that many things could fit.

There are more focused threads where you can get real answers to real questions and in which, even with occassional humor, it stays usefully focused.

Threads like this are more like a bar where you can vent and go home afterwards. How much harm is done?
"...lack of documentation of the procedure followed in its experiments."
Now, you are talking.

I am still hoping to read about methods used to achieve what teo_audio stated about horses being taught to use calculator.
thyname,

Ethan Winer gets two points. It may be unexpected, but at least his marketing strategy is not that dry.
geoffkait,

Thanks, but I make sure that I write the truth. You know, I check if people eat ice-cream in space before writing it.
geoffkait,

"Note - When glubson says he really doesn’t understand, statistically there’s a 99% probability he’s telling the truth."
You almost got it right. It is 100%.
thyname,

I meant to, and then decided not to, mention that I am not Ethan Whiner. It seems that anyone here who is not talking about him in some rude way gaets renamed into Ethan.

I will check that link.
thyname,

No, I really did not know it. Now I do.

Anyway, would it be fair for any of the Ethan Whiner dislikers to inform him that he is mentioned here in strong words? Maybe he could present his view of his personality? For those of us who do not know him, it is now a few who dislike the man and spill all they can against him vs. some unknown man who keeps quiet.
thyname,

I apologize if I misunderstood your answer for a question.

“So that your family, friends, co-workers, etc. know who you are, and interact with you?”
I did not expect an answer will end with a question mark. My bad.
"It’s hard sometimes to turn off the laugh machine. 😂"
Take the batteries out. No more teacher's dirty looks.
thyname,

"So that your family, friends, co-workers, etc. know who you are, and interact with you?"
They know who I am. They have my phone number and address. They can easily reach me and do it every day. More often in person than over the electronic means.

“Is your only social media purpose trolling the audio forums?”
This is the only one I visit. Trollingwise, may I remind you that I have not mentioned any name of a person not directly participating, or interacting with me here, and dragged it through the mud?

I simply became curious why you would have different names. Hardly a trolling, whatever the trolling means.

By the way, you have not answered my question why you have different names. It is fine, you do not need to, but just so you know, I have not noticed any post by Ethan Whiner talking bad about you here.

thyname,

Do you use “glupson” as your name in your Facebook account?
No. I do not have a Facebook account. However, if I did have it, I would use glupson. Why do it any other way?

Nothing is that mysterious except why you engaged in a conversation with a person who was treating you poorly. What made you continue?

Somewhere above, it also mentions that Ethan Whiner uses fake accounts. How does an account become fake? Isn’t it all fully virtual? Aside of that, to me Ethan Whiner seems like a name made up for a movie, or something like that.
"Inquiring minds want to know."
It does not seem that inquiring minds want to know.

It seems to me that minds already know everything they want to know and any other knowledge is not knowledge at all.
thyname,

"...he got into an argument with me simply because I mentioned a reasonably priced..."
Why on Earth did you get into that argument? Why just not ignore him, if he is that bad?

"Yes Ethan, it’s me. I am so scared right now 😂"
Why different name? Isn't that what this Ethan man was accused of doing a few posts above?
This Ethan person undoubtedly has a very powerful personality.

Look at this thread. Almost everybody has some opinion, mostly negative and very strong, about him.

If he were really worthless and unimportant, wouldn't you just shrug your shoulders and laugh him off?

I had never heard of that man nor am I understanding why some of you think he is participating in this thread.
"I’d rather poke an icepick in my ear than to read some of that scientific psychobabble."
Huh, that is quite a feeling. Thankfully, scientific psychobabble makes it possible to repair some of the damage from trauma sustained by poking things in one’s ear. Not all of it, for that more scientific articles and psychobabble are needed, but some.

Not really a true literature search, but google, sheds some light on it...

With some glimpse of techniques.

A bit more important psychobabble than cold or hot cables, fuses, or other topics frequently discussed here.
"The big super robust calcs were getting damaged regardless, so we decided to start training hummingbirds to use teeny tiny calculators."
It would be interesting to see the methods described in that report about horses being taught how to use a calculator. I guess, it would be the same for dogs, but horses just seem like more striking of an achievement. Way more impressive than hypothetical benefits of temporarily cold cables.
"Ethan is good with spinning numbers on a calculator or whatnot, but even a dog or horse can be trained to do that."
How big is the horse calculator? It has to be able to withstand lots of force.
"Just not so open that your brains fall out. It’s very messy and hard to clean up."
I disagree.
"History favors the bald."
Is shaving one's head a shortcut to history books? Maybe it is artificial intelligence.
geoffkait,

Here you go. Master's words. Frame it.

glupson2,763 posts09-12-2018 10:13amBeing a crystal and a rock is not mutually exclusive.

Rocks and crystals come in various sizes and weights.

Degree of friction does not influence classification into rocks or crystals.

I have not learned about Metallica in elementary school so I cannot comment on that.

Note to geoffkait: Check if the prep school you attended has money back guarantee.

geoffkait,

"...you need to go back to whatever backwater school you went to and demand your money back..."
I am honored to see you are using my ideas in an attempt to be funny when communicating with others.

Maybe you forgot, but many months ago I told you this about getting your money back from school many times.

The only sad part of the comedy is that it does not seem funny when you post it. It is, kind of, old. Still, try some more, practice makes perfect.

If you run out of steam, I can write  a few posts for you so you regain some credibility.
"...where else can you see so much of human nature on display both good and bad"
Traffic. Although it is mostly bad.
"Would be interested in hearing if others on this site have changed their opinion based on a statement of another poster."
And you do not know the answer to that one yet?
