Lee Morgan
THE COOKER
Blue Note 1957 / 2006 RvG Edition
Lee Morgan(trumpet), Pepper Adams(baritone sax), Bobby Timmons(piano), Paul Chambers(bass), Philly Joe Jones(drums)
Notes: If we accept Morgan’s distinction between an original style (which he claimed not to have at this point in his career) and an identity, THE COOKER can be heard as the album in which the Lee Morgan identity is announced.
Morgan is 19 years old on this recording. His 5th recording in less than a year.

Mozart 35 / Bohm
I have that CD. One of my favorite conductors. His Beethoven's 9th with Norman and Domingo is my favorite performance of that symphony. Probably because it is as slow as molasses in the winter time.
Cheers.

Nancy Wilson
Outstanding!! I saw her in concert at Constitution Hall in Washington. back in the day. Like Ella, she is in a class by herself.

Yannick Nezet-Seguin / Philadelphia Orchestra.
Have not played it yet. Will tomorrow. Thanks for the review.
DG : There was a time when I thought DG and Karajan was all you needed in Classical Music. 😞
