Hi wisty,
I would like to hear from other Electron owners as well. Thank you for posting this.
I have had an of off line communication with one Tekton owner who posts a lot and and this person told me to "...get the biggest Tekton I could afford and not worry about size...."
Based on my experience with not being able to make the very large Thiel CS5's "disappear", and then moving to smaller Tyler Acoustics that have turned out to be much more musical with good soundstage, I am not sure I agree with the comment.
Can you share what size your space was when you had the Double Impacts? My listening space from the front wall to chair is about 12 to 13 feet, with another 15 feet of open space behind me.
Also, could you share you Double Impact listening experience at low volumes levels?
I have been considering the Electrons because I could not make the large Thiels sing. The Electron SE's are priced much like the Double Impacts, so I wonder if the smaller speaker might have higher quality parts, which maybe, could offset the smaller size....
Not trying to steal your thread :)! Thanks for listening,
Dsper

Aniwolfe has the election se. |
Hi, My room dimensions are 11x 20 ft. Which speaker is more suitable to this room Electron or Double Impact? Thanks, Dan |
- Look at the Raven Union CeLest
|
Raven Audio CeLest..... I love them... |
@davidantonio I just bought a pair of Tekton Encores for my 11x17 room. Breaking them in now. Eric is very certain about speakers not overloading rooms. Although not fully broken in yet, I don't feel the bass is overloading the room. I would go for the DI's. |
Thanks for all your suggestions. Dan |
I have Moabs in a 12 by 14.5 room - no problem with bass (overload). In fact, the bass is full and articulate, sometimes leaving me pondering why people include bass arrays. |
@listening99, thanks for sharing! what factors made you decide to go ahead with the Moabs instead of DI SE’s? Tekton’s line up is so overlapped, that it is so confusing to pick one model, Dan
|
I agree David. Coming in cold, its hard to choose. Its confusing to understand why there are so many speakers in the lineup with close msrps. It looks to me like the right speaker would be the electron SE or the DI, but I am confused on the differences. I'm tempted to go DI because its well regarded, but perhaps its low end will be too overpowering?! Then I call Tekton and am told that the SE has better low end?!
We need a chart sort of giving us the skinny on the merits of each speaker and what its designed for. |
Hello Electron SE owners, just before the new year I pulled the trigger on The Enzo XLs thinking the "sale" would soon be over ha ! They were/are great in my audio room of 20ft L by 12.6 W by 7ft T
Wanted more so returned for the Electron SE and have not looked back, These fit my room like a glove, I did opt for the bi-amp option. My room is damped with many bass traps and difussors which I find work fantastic. Running them with a Digital Amplifier Co MEGA amp and a Krell 50S both of which are stellar performers. I too await a reviewers thoughts on these Electron SE.
At this $3000.00 price point you cannot go wrong IMHO. |
Give us more details on how they sound MusicBox! I'm still on the fence... DI or electron SE. I'd love to hear opinions from folks who have heard both.
Also, $3K is at the top of my budget. How much better are these speakers than say, a standard electron or an enzo 2.7? Is it 100% better?! :) |
In my opinion the Electron SE has very deep well defined bass. The seven tweeter array was something I really craved tho, over the three tweeter Enzo XL. These sound awesome at low volumns too. Of course they can rock hard if needed, wanted.
These SE compared to the regular DIs have better drivers and most likely will sound better in rooms my size. The 2.7 may work in even a smaller space, and you get the seven driver tweeters, but I think only 6" woofers ??? The Electron SE is a steel at $$$ 3,000.00 !! |
I had a pair of Tekton Double Impacts that I sold when I moved to a
smaller home. After a year of evaluating various smaller speakers I
decided to go back to Tekton but with the more compact Electron SE. In
my room these speakers work perfectly. The bass on these smaller
speakers is unbelievably deep and tight. I miss none of the punch from
the bigger Double Impacts. On mine's I used a single Beryllium tweeter
on the middle of the array. The tops on these are very extended and
crisp clear more so than the DBs. The imaging and sweet-spot is
electrostatic-like with excellent ability to present the faintest
details in a recording. In my appreciation other than the ability to
convey a "bigger" bass the Electrons have a more refined sound and the
bass in my room is more than sufficient with a tighter presentation than
that of the DB's. Finally these are just an awesome value.Try finding a 99dB efficiency speaker that goes down to 20Hz for less than $10K.
At $3K the Electro SE are ridiculously cheap. These guys are a definitely worth looking into if you are looking for an efficient full ranger.

I’ve had the Electron SEs for about a year and am enjoying them very much. It did take some searching for a good amp to mate with these. I just added a SET 300b amp (9 watts per channel; it’s an Elekit TU 8600) and think I’ve finally honed in on the core sound that I’m looking for. These are very clear, revealing speakers that don’t sound overly colored and are definitely non fatiguing. I would disagree about the deep bass though - if you crave deep base you’ll probably want to add in a sub (I do). And yes, a stronger push pull amp will give you more bass punch than a SET amp with these speakers, but I’ve heard them
with a more powerful amp and they don’t go as low as advertised. All in all, a very nice package a good value.
