I have the Pendragons and they are the best Towers I have ever owned.Full range and sound good with Tubes or Sand amps.I drive them with either 2 Emotiva XPA100’s or a Primaluna Prologue 5 with KT88’s.I have some KT120’s for the Prologue 5 but have not rolled them in yet.I feed those amps thru a Schiit Audio Freya Tube Preamp. That purchase represented the most I have ever spent on stereo gear.I am a budget Audiophile I guess.
Tekton Double Impacts
Anybody out there heard these??
I have dedicated audio room 14.5x20.5x9 ft. Currently have Marantz Reference CD/Intergrated paired to Magnepan 1.7's with REL T-7 subs. For the vast majority of music I love this system. The only nit pick is that it is lacking/limited in covering say below 35 hz or so. For the first time actually buzzed the panel with an organ sacd. Bummer. Thought of upgrading subs to rythmicks but then I will need to high pass the 1.7's. Really don't want to deal with that approach.
Enter the Double Impacts. Many interesting things here. Would certainly have a different set of strengths here. Dynamics, claimed bottom octave coverage in one package, suspect a good match to current electronics.
I've read all the threads here so we do not need to rehash that. Just wondering if others out there have FIRST HAND experience with these or other Tekton speakers
Thanks.

Based on what I have read I have decided Tekton is a Fad..lotsa of people must be drinking the koolAid.. based on what I have read.. Those of you that have replaced speakers costing much more have bought into the Fad.. drank the koolaid.. the Tektons will probably disappear soon.. they can't be that good based on what I have read.. I know everything that you read on the internet has to be true.. .except for this about the Tektons. So,based on what I have read I will not purchase anymore Tektons. .I am glad I sold my Pendragons that I really enjoyed when I was hurting for money. I am so sorry that I bought the Mlores and Lore References that I enjoy daily Based on what I have read..I drank that koolaid too. I feel so silly now! |
My take is that Zero Fidelty says that this is one of those products that come with a lot of hype and actually delivers. He looks like a regular Joe that loves music and in his opinion it seemed like he was saying these are not $30,000 dollar speakers but they ARE a great value. The ability to use the DI's with such a wide range of amps is a super bonus but he did say that they do really well with lotsa watts.I think E.A./Tekton promotes that same point of view. |
"Not to put words in his mouth, but I honestly think that zero fidelity just played it safe. Would have been too big a backlash from people that a $3k speaker was better than some $30k speakers, so he added that and saved himself a lot of "you don't know what you are talking about" and people calling him a homer. He said in about as strong terms as he could without offending the "expensive speakers are inherently better" crowd. Just my opinion though."Vitop you may be on to something there as he did seem to really enjoy them. And Kdude66..24 amps..WOW.I think that gives one of the best insights on what these speakers are capable of. |
Instead of the cheater plug I used this video to build a homemade ground loop isolater outlet box..Kind of a take on the Ebtech https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CuvDMjxhE68 |
almarg/JCarcopo I made up some speaker cable with Resistors soldered across the terminals just in case I forgot to select the the speakers when switching between The SS amp to the Primaluna Tube Amp. I have been know to drink sometimes when I am listening to music and did not want to take a chance on "letting the magic smoke out" of the Primaluna. I found the info online and can not remember which site . The resistors are150 ohms-10 watt or something like that. Good size chunky resistors. |
