Tekton Double Impacts

Anybody out there heard these??

I have dedicated audio room 14.5x20.5x9 ft.  Currently have Marantz Reference CD/Intergrated paired to Magnepan 1.7's with REL T-7 subs.  For the vast majority of music I love this system.  The only nit pick is that it is lacking/limited in covering say below 35 hz or so.  For the first time actually buzzed the panel with an organ sacd. Bummer.  Thought of upgrading subs to rythmicks but then I will need to high pass the 1.7's.  Really don't want to deal with that approach.

Enter the Double Impacts.  Many interesting things here.  Would certainly have a different set of strengths here.  Dynamics, claimed bottom octave coverage in one package, suspect a good match to current electronics.

I've read all the threads here so we do not need to rehash that.  Just wondering if others out there have FIRST HAND experience with these or other Tekton speakers

Thanks.

I have owned the the 3.6 . .if you want real low Bass get a good powered sub Like
JL Audio, or Rel.  Your panel is good only to about a honest 40hz at best.
Your amp should be good wuslity and at least 250 wpc to not distort  as easy.
A good powered sub has several advantages.   For one  to take any bass  below 50hz.  It takes a big load off your amplifier,  and set to around 50hz your panel slso will be much more at ease to you. Without bottoming out.
One thing very important to me having modded everything electronics and Loudspeakers.  Jowls about saying or better yet what thd crossover looks like and parts quality. It is a fact
Solen being the norm and average at best maybe Mills resistors
If you are lucky and sledge hammers wire wound around a piece of iron . Jantzen Copper coil not expensive but still designers go on the cheap. The heart of your system depends on it and can sound Dramatically better for even an extra  $100 . Just add it in yhe cost.
That is my challenge for these speaker have a big wave form
Low level detail is not their strong suit IMO. That is where a SE
Model much better drivers ,as well as high end Crossover parts
May be for super critical listening which I often to. Beatles white album is a very good example  #9 for example every stereo sounds different and the interplay going on. That is my challenge to Erik
I may by a pair if xover is upgraded and upper end parts quality.
One thing the double impacts are not are refined . Erik will not even disclose the
Type and crossover type, brands used, and this has Nothing to do  with his
So called proprietary design. He uses cheaper parts period . Myself using from basic to
Exotic capacitors ,resistors, and the purity is very evident.
As well as the drivers used, precision definitely not.  Very good bottom end Big sound stage
And big wave front from all the drivers. My Sonus Faber Olympica-3  speakers are much better balanced for exsmple. It sll depends what  perspective is most important to You and  your system. Whatever makes You happy.😎
My speakers are not slow in the least ,your choice of amplifier will determine that. Yes I did here the D impacts ,not SE version, a  week ago at a audio get together .they did s lot of things well.
The Olympica-3 drivers are night and day better quality even
Vs the As a version that I can say as s Fact. Much of the technologies is from their flag ship. And the only clarity worth
Their salt, I have used them all is their new Copper MR,
Or Copper ESA,their 2nd in line. And Jsntzen coils are a favorite,
And mundorf supreme resistors,or worlds best Path Audio
Under 1% max .Duelund 5 and 10% are a 10,and 20% total variance .
Cabinet design build is totally an art form and specialty.
If you truly wanted excellent s Loudspeaker that is  dynamic, transparent great soundstage,as well as imaging, and bass is not only excellent dual Dual powered opposing subs per cabinet 2 subwoofer drivers ,2 Ncore amps per speaker.
With Anthem  Bass room correction. I have heard the double impacts Loud and Dynamic but at a whisper low level detail is not that good and very room dependant in Bass.
The new Martin Logan Masterpiece series the 11A Impression
I just bought after over a month of listening and research
This new series is a land Mark product that puts many speakers 2x the cost To shame .24bit DSP- Bass and Panel runs full range from 300hz
On up. If you have not heard them then you have nothing educated  share. This new Masterpiece series is Totally New Top to Bottom
How big your room is would determine how big and bad you want
To be dual 8inch to dual 12 inch powered subs, and 11- 15 inch panels.

I agree with what uou say where i msy love a 3d sound stage, and fast tight  Bass
You may enjoy a slower deep image and a rounder Bass.
I am just Writtung for one guy in particular was saying Wilson grand slams ,
And Big Magico speakers are not as good as the Double impact.
I have heard all 3 the double impact have several strengths but is not
In this elite company just impossible for one their drivers are night and day more
Accurste,as well as the crossover 20x higher quality. Which is the heart of any
LOUDDPEAKER EXCEPT  single driver speakers are powered stats the Xover,
Ends at the mid bass 300hz.  The Double impact are a great buy I will give that.
Refined and detail champs they are not.  If Eric truly wants to prove his Speaker
Give them to Sterrophile John A will test and measure them .That is a True test.
To the latest comments on their opinion of ML speakers whst you heard is Generations ago. As I wrote ,and please do read the latest reviews on the Masterpiece series 3 models that are powered ,that have dual subs per cabinet
And the key 24bit,DSP- processing totally seamless from top yo bottom
Then any conventional crossover these speakers have  NO crossover whst cover
From 300hz on up ,and that what makes these Loudspeakers so special. Plus room correction for the Bass. Go hear them today
No stone went unturned including the quality of parts.
Go hear these New models ,and do read the reviews All  positive.
The Double impact are a great deal for $3k, the bass and cabinet is a weak link
It us not tight Bass like with a $$ speaker thst us a fact.i compared with new ML powered Bass ,as well as Vandersteen  speaker.  All more money.
Bass will do cleanly around 30hz Cleanly   a Striway concert grand only goes to 28hz and thst is low frequrncy vibration at that frequency .  These cabinrts are not
That thick or ridged 30hz clean is very respectable not even 2% of music goes this low . There is no standards in Audio. Test yo be sweeps at 90hz is whst one of the guys did. If you bought the new SE model much better drivers ,and a little better crossover thst too us a weakness,, i have modded crossovrrs gif years
The crossover us the heart .use good Jsntzen copper inductors old Mills resistors US made 5.00 each  sonicraft sells them. No Solen garbage caps and cheapest clarity caps at minimum use the New Clarity Copper S.A. caps very good caps for the money .I gave done tins of experimenting .There are many better still butt Erik
Is very frugal.
Text errors compliment of SamDung- tablet spelling wizard I wrote fast before work ,the intent was correct from midbass up even the cheaper $3k is respectable.i have been into sudio well over 30 years and the drivers in any speaker can be the weak link,a $300 scan speak or of revelatory tweeters are roughly 1% or under distortion , these $25;tweeter in the Double impact are yes
Double or more Total Harmonic Distortion . It will still sound good But
This us where the $$ speakers will All ways win .
Send a pair if these to John Atkinson at Sterrophile he would love to dissect  the good and bad, he is by far the best technician of any magazine . I have seen him rip products $$ he tells it as he sees it . Just have real expectations ,thst us all I am saying . For the money the DI are very good.
Granny ring  I like the fact you have experience with possibilities
With upgrades and not sugar coating the truth. Putting things in perspective the DI,are great for the money. The New $6500
SE version has a better driver complement ,and decent crossover parts but nothing Special Erik gets mad when asked ,because
Doesnot put much $$ into the crossover ,and average and I am sure the average parts are ok clarity caps,  but which ones ?
Personally if you are buying them there should be top wiring options ,and at least a reference capacitor, cross over package
For I can tell you without reservation the crossover being the heart
Of a speaker ,and please remember with all these drivers decent
Wave core, and  better woofers they are 2-3% distortion,  compared with top scan speaker ,seas, Accuton, they are not as refined no matter how good the design .They are a very good speaker and great deal.I give credit where do,But do not compare with a marten,
Wilson YG,Magico these are in another league - Period precision
Instruments this is why they cost big bucks the drivers many times more expensive and Accurate under 1% ,the cabinets are totally inert. The adverts are a bit over the top. I am just being honest
I heard the latest Wilson Alexx 2 weeks ago .$110k but Fantastic.
If I had the money I would buy them. Having owned a Hifi store in the past hand built precision audio  has its place ,just as very expensive cars. The Double impacts,SE and flagship are all very
Good to excellent and several times over in $$ value. This is honest and the truth .I have had systems approaching 6 figures..
Top systems are just a bit better at everything and more refined
I will leave it at that if you like the Double impact buy em great deal .

You would have to redesign the cabinet, and cross over if you put in different brand higher spec- matched drivers. For their magnet, frame structure is different
A DI ultimate reference  would be I would estimate around $18k
To be close to the competition that sells for $40k.
I think this is an honest assessment if I were coursing parts .
Like a 3 way speaker I built ,for sale grade A  Birch ply  sonivly is noticsbly more solid ,and sonivly better, the DI dpeaker uses MDF .one major reason these $$ big money speakers have  such low noise and tight Bass is composite ,materials
Machined Aluminum and high tech - black hole sound absorption for example
,and the Entire crossover in its own isolated chamber. The Double impact
Has the Crossover in the same environment as the drivers, that is an error .
For the crossover picks up vibration as is generated back as distortions ,small may be but cumulative.  These are just examples .even hook up wire .I seen a great demonstration with regular decent ,kimber, cardas hook up wire $ 3 a foot
And the excellent Verastarr Copper foil ,in a vapor speaker .The verastarr  was $10 a ft .thst being said the speaker was much more detailed in transparent.
It all comes down to how much do you want to compromise in the speakers $$ price, performance .All  parts choices are cumulative in the final voicing
Of it's design.
You having maggi  speakers their speed is 2 nd to only Electrostaics. And the panel is for sure far less mass ,faster less distortion , but will not have the dynamic output from midbsss down . Put 2 powered subwoofers in the mix and now potentially
you will have optimum extension and control.
my earlier comment on conventional driver distortion was from the midrange on up ,not lower midbsss on down. Maggi can be greatly improved just be putting in Quality crossover parts ,fuses
and get rid of the cheap frame ,Myers stands much more ridged
all depends on your room ,what’s lacking what you are trying to accomplish.  Myself have one of the New pup Martin Logan
powered DSP powered bass. I completely upgraded the crossover
far better then even their best speaker , it now sounds excellent
wires many people overlook .i have tried many  cables finally settled on the Verastarr line , these get out f the way far better then
most commercial brands by a wide margin. Penny wise and pound foolish .myself included in the past .everything starts and stops with wire .many times it  is your wire masking the capabilities of
your electronics .that is another story . Don’t be cheap ,your system is only as strong as its weakest link !!
I  have worked in audio for over 30 years ,and just from experience
for example a Hiqiphon tweeter less then .5 % per per on average
$260a pr . The wavecore not even close 2-3% and not even guaranteed X7  drivers a potential for many anamolies. Very simple math. These revelator tweeters, seas millennium, Accuton ceramic
are all in the 1%  range .wave Core is a $40tweeter, not $150
you are not going to see hand applied coatings and measurements
per matched pair . Taiwan or not . This is where you get what you pay for better, everything, materials as well as castings on the frame .this is why YG acoustics,Magic, even Wilson have a dedicated line hand built for them ,but at a cost . That is where
the 3-4 % potentially comes in ,and for the Bass 3X that.
