@oceanandmountains I am using the low output version of that cartridge. I bought the new table with a Sumiko Starling MC cartridge, and did my best to make that work, but it was so harsh and etched that I could not listen for very long, so I decided to go purchase the Grado and there is no comparison. The music simply flows, no harshness, plenty of bass, just beautiful music. I have the Starling, probably used for 10-20 hours, will perhaps sell it if there is a buyer. |
@rpeluso Thanks again for taking the time to reply...much appreciated! |
@doyle3433 , Welcome to the club! Like @stereo5, I've had the GAE since 2016. I've sold every piece of gear I had since then and sold each type of gear (speakers, pre, phono pre, amps, etc.) multiple times. Guess what? The GAE has stayed put. +1 on having multiple carts for you G series. Once you set them up, you can put them in a cartridge holder and just pop out the one that suits your fancy. 1 minute to adjust VTF and you're off! The G series has the best adjustable VTA too. Amazing table. I've never been keen on the mat. Also, I think a proper setup mechanism that does spindle to tonearm axis measurement gets you better sound than using Technics supplied device. The table is a beast! Footfalls? Nope. Tracking? Spot on. With each cartridge you can really hear differences. I wish you the best! Enjoy thoroughly. |
