Technics

Was just curious...
I know Panasonic moved the Technics assembly from Japan to Malaysia in the early part of this year. I heard multiple time frames for when the 1200 and 1210 tables will be available. Has anyone heard anything recently..either from.the company themselves or a Technics dealer?

What is a Technics dealer? (Just kidding, of course.) I asked on here a bit back if anyone had noticed that the list of places to buy has greatly decreased in recent months. Last I checked, there wasn't a single Technics dealer in the whole of New England. Though I'd been interested in getting an SL-1200GR as my retirement turntable, I've been changing my focus of late.

Did you check Fidelis in NH?  They were selling Technics when I bought my SL1200G?  I purchased mine from Adirondack Audio in Queensbury, NY.   An  excellent dealer who has many obscure brands on display.  The store owner Jason Tavares, grew up 30 miles from me!
Thanks, @stereo5. I actually phoned Fidelis a couple of months ago and was told that they no longer carried Technics. When I mentioned that I had seen them listed on the Technics site but that they no longer appeared there, the salesman said, incredulously, "They took us off!"

He further said that they simply couldn't get any product from them for the longest time, etc.

How do you like your SL-1200G? What cartridge are you using? And what phono stage?
@hodu

I love the SL1200G and use it frequently.  Right now I am using a ZU modified Denon DL103 which is okay, but I will be ordering a Dynavector DV20X2L cartridge in a month or so.  I am using the moving coil input on my McIntosh C2500 tube preamp.  I can change the cartridge loading via remote on the fly.  I would call Jason at Adirondack Audio, they had my turntable in stock while all other dealers did not.

I will say that the SL1200G blew away the VPI Prime I had previously to the Technics.  Every aspect of the sound is much better.
You can use so many different cartridges on Technics tonearm so you don’t have to worry about it! Just don’t use low compliace cartridges. Mid or High compliance are all fine!
I was just now looking at Adirondack Audio's Website and noted that they've also got a store in southern Vermont, perhaps a bit less than an hour and a half from where I live in Western Massachusetts. I'll be getting in touch with them soon. Thanks, again, @stereo5!
@hodu,

If you are in western Mass, Queensbury NY is less than an hour from the NY/Ma line.

Value Electronics in Scarsdale NY is a Technics dealer if you are still looking for 1: a few miles from the Connecticut border.

Technics SU-C700 full digital amplifier is one of the best value you can find under 5000$... it's way above anything in the FDA segment, and also the Class A segment.
