I have a TN-550 and am very happy with it. I got a leather mat and record clamp, and currently am using Soundsmith Othello cartridge. I find the sound fully 3-dimensional and satisfying. One big factor is how easy does hum get induced, and this turntable beats two others I own in this regard (low liklihood hum gets triggered). Been checking out specs and reviews on the new TN-4D and TN-3B, at first thinking with the newly designed SAEC tonearm, these new models might be significantly better than TN-550. But now I think maybe not so fast...they retail for less and seem to have lower end, lighter platters and other parts. Since they are not yet officially sold in U.S. (MoMA has them for $599 but they are on back-order), maybe they are roughly similar in sound quality. Anyone compared these new models w/550/570?
