Do these speakers still pass the modern audio test as compared to modern

I've used two different Tannoy speakers over the last forty+ years, first, in 1970, was MG 12, in rather poorly made DIY cabinets, then in 2008, in a return to Tannoy, HPD 315 drivers in custom built 150 liter bass-reflex enclosures with nearly two inches of MDF, and a weight of 192lbs.

These speakers are the best I've ever owned, and one of the best I've heard anywhere, but then, I don't get out much, though I've heard some very good speakers, none-the-less.

In my current system, these HPD-based speakers sound superb. They've allowed me to switch to tube amplification, which is giving me the best, most enjoyable sound, ever heard in my home. They've far outpaced the Dynaudio Contour 5.4's they replaced, which were pretty nice speakers on their own, but would not allow me to enter into tube amps. So, they had to go. I don't miss them, but they were awful pretty.

So for me, these HPD 315 (12") speakers are giving me all I've ever asked for. They have been greatly modified, with Hard Edge surrounds, and custom outboard crossovers.

I've never heard Red Tannoys, so I can't comment on them. You can see my system if you click on my name, and visit "The Summit" in Virtual Systems

I also have the 315 hpd very fast better mids than the reds.  We put together a westminster diy design and added a custom super tweeter and subs with all tube gear.  Very magical!
