Synthesis A 50t

Hi all I’m new on here from the UK and am the proud owner of a synthesis

A50t amplifier which I bought last month my first impressions coming from a class D amp was how detailed it is with amazing separation of instruments and a wall of a soundstage, but! For some reason that I hope someone can help me with is a slight audible hiss when there is not a song playing it’s not loud but I know it’s there I’ve emailed synthesis tech support and am waiting for a reply but thought I could get some answers on here

thanks in advance Billy G

What speakers are you using, what's their sensitivity? It's not uncommon to hear some audible hiss, particularly if your speakers are sensitive - say 94dB or higher, perhaps.

You might be able to find quieter input tubes.

I have the Titan A100 and it's dead quiet into my 90dB ProAcs, but I'm sure if I hooked it up to my 96dB Voxativ I would hear some audible hiss.

If it's slight, and barely audible from the seat, it's probably considered normal...

welcome to tubes as you now know tubes do produce a bit of hiss, that is just a fact with tubes.

unfortunately in audio as with everything there are advantages and disadvantages, with everything

tubes advantages

huge soundstage

midrange color and musicality

ability to tune the sound by trying different tubes

easier to repair, can be refreshed by putting in new tubes

disadvantages:

slight hiss,

lower damping factor

tubes need to be replaced, every few years.

I’m running focal aria 926 k2 with a db of 91.5

could I swap out the pre tubes for less noisy ones ?

Audiotroy could you recommend some less lively input stage tubes

that would offer less noise and would I have to get the bias tweaked ?
