Synergistic Red Fuse ...

I installed a SR RED Quantum fuse in my ARC REF-3 preamp a few days ago, replacing an older high end fuse. Uhh ... for a hundred bucks, this little baby is well worth the cost. There was an immediate improvement upon installation, but now that its broken in (yes, no kidding), its quite remarkable. A tightening of the focus, a more solid image, and most important of all for my tastes, a deeper appreciation for the organic sound of the instruments. Damn! ... cellos sound great! Much improved attack on pianos. More humanistic on vocals. Bowed bass goes down forever. Next move? .... I'm doing the entire system with these fuses. One at a time though just to gauge the improvement in each piece of equipment. The REF-75se comes next. I'll report the results as the progression takes place. Stay tuned ...

Any comments from anyone else who has tried these fuses?

Frank thanks so much for saying that and totally understood we all get overly passionate at times. And speaking of good wire for me personally just dropped a Jorma Design digital cable between my streamer and dac and wow talk about a wholesale improvement in sound! Folks everything matters, fuses, cables, power supplies, etc.
Good luck Charles! I'll say this about my Maryland Terps, they've given me tons of extra listening time! :)
Charles you and me both! I really miss the ACC to me its more of a basketball conference. Big Ten is better for football of course but I am a basketball guy all the way.
knghifi if you can't see the difference between politics and sports I can't really help you. And no censorship I made a respectful request to Frank.
So I feel like I'm being both obliquely and pointedly criticized for politely asking for a refrain from political commentary. It really feels rather mean spirited and condescending and I am frankly rather shocked. My politics are beside the point here, how about basic respect, politeness, and courtesy? Thank you.
Thank you Frank, Al, and Charles, your thoughts are most appreciated. I value all of your contributions very highly. And I just think that framing arguments in the context of our society right now can be fraught with controversy and perceived, if not intended, ill will. Now hopefully we can return to the topic of fuses which as we all know is totally not controversial. :-p
I think everyone needs to perhaps take a deep breath and relax. abnerjack I agree with Charles Frank is a super nice helpful generous friendly guy who used a  poor choice of words. It happens. Snowflake in fact was a somewhat poor choice of words. So why don't we find some music that makes us happy, put it on, and if its your thing pour yourself a drink or light one up. Enjoy the music cause isn't that why we're here?
@jetter please let me add to the kudos for you post well done and spot on as well as pleasantly amusing thank you!
And George stop calling us fusers we all have many other parts of our systems we love and are proud of its not just about the fuses. Oh and don't forget about music either.
I am with charles and grannyring on this one power supply and transformer quality being critically important on any tube amp. Never heard any of the Inspire amps but I will say I was very impressed with a Cary PP 2a3 integrated Vu lent me for few days. Incredibly transparent amp though the boss said it was too bright and I couldn't keep it. They do say women have better hearing but man I was in love with that amp!
Charles thanks for the vibe recs I have Jay Hoggard queued up next "Duke Ellingtons Sacred Music-Something Bout Believing" great title found it on Tidal. Listened to some Brad Mehdldau some of his work is excellent some skews a bit modern for my tastes but love Lee Konitz and Charlie Haden will check that out. Thanks for the Tardo Hammer rec to forgot all about him going to add that to the queue also!
Charles thanks Live at the Half Note is now queued up as well! It's going to be a late night listening thanks to you. :)
Charles it's a great recording very well played and very involving, konitz plays the sax in a lively melodic style. Thanks for the rec will favorite it for repeat listening!
Charles thanks working from home this Friday and have "Parker's Mood" and "Fingerpainting" both queued up!
Very well said grannyring on all counts! Charles is a treasure trove of musical recommendations and as the French say vive la difference!
Charles loved both of your suggestions today! Parkers Mood and Fingerpaintings are both in my favorites now and its been an enjoyable relaxed Friday of listening. Delving more into Nicholas Payton now with Into the Blue.
I'm with Charles here faith and religion being very tricky subjects which can tend  to divide us, music on the other hand has a tendency to bring us together. For whatever that is worth.
Sunday morning classical with Bach Trios by Yo Yo Ma, Chris Thile, and Edgar Meyer. Not much of a classical listener but I love it on weekend mornings for some reason.
Agreed Frank and my system is sounding pretty dynamite these days also, I seem to be listening more than ever! Never a bad thing! :)
@charles1dad  Since you were so kind as to introduce me to Jay Hoggard, check out his release "Harlem Heiroglyphs" I found it on Tidal and it's excellent. Good upfront sound and some interesting original compositions with a few classics mixed in.
Frank thanks for the Conte Candoli rec never heard of it before, it's queued up next!
It was very enjoyable Frank some fine playing all around! Also liked Toots Sweet by Conte Candiolo and not listening to Manhattan by Alan Barnes with the David Newman Trio and special guest Conte. Great stuff thanks!
Listening to it now and its fantastic, lovely music and a warm rich sound. Mellow but lively at the same time great tunes for a relaxed Friday!
Awesome stuff guys and I've always loved Art Pepper in terms of that West Coast jazz stye. Any other cool mellow west coast stuff you all can hip me to? Cheers and happy Friday all!
Ha! Thanks Frank naturally that is already on Tidal and just queued it up! Any of you guys who aren't streaming at least a little bit, this is why it's so great! Recommend, seek, find, listen!
Frank I ditched Spotify years ago, you should consider giving Tidal a whirl it's real music as far as I, and many others are concerned. And agreed older analog recording are the way to go love that sound! And Charles, Jim Hall is a new discovery for me will certainly investigate further! I also love that on this recording  Jimmy Giuffre's sax is so rich and burnished sounding!
Charles thanks "Night Lights:  is queued up next! And I love many of the artists on your list!
Why do fuses and music make some people so cranky? And what's wrong with talking about music on an audio forum? And what can be said about fuses that hasn't been said already? I wish some folks on this thread would just lighten up a bit. And on a lighter note been really grooving in Jim Hall last night and today, will check some Barney Kessel out later Frank.  I've owned "the Poll Winners" for years so heard him before but never really delved thanks for the tip!
Awesome Charles "Plays for Lovers" is queued up and as always Frank well said!
Thanks for the rec wolf Lenny Breau is queued up next "The Hallmark Sessions".
Charles his playing is excellent and style of music is solid. Definitely different not as classically jazz guitar but well worth seeking out!
Ok if Wolf won't give any more  music recs then I'll play, Anat Cohen a super talented clarinetist "Notes from the Village". Excellent playing and good sound. I love the sound of a clarinet and Anat's playing is bright and lively the album really swings! And I have to say I've got a few relationships that could probably use some contact enhancing! :P
Charles I absolutely loved "You Go To My Head" its now in my favorites and I have "The Backbeat" queued up next! Great music for a dreary rainy day here!
Charles indeed we have very similar tastes in music and audio as well I believe. So lined up next is Doug with his dad Jimmy on "Nardis".
Wolf I think the amps you mean are Einstein. Or Audio Valve its one of those two I can't recall which one.
Hi Jason,
Great post and you’re very lucky to have gotten to hear Frank’s system! I’ve drooled over it from afar, and even better you met Frank the person, who I’ve come to really admire interacting on here. And bravo to you and your fried doing A/B fuse comparisons, better you guys than me! :-p

I guess I will end with what will hopefully become our new tagline:
"Fuses, fusing people together one song at a time"

Happy Friday all!
Frank good luck and best wishes on your upcoming procedure! Hopefully your doc has some NOS valves. :-)

Charles thanks for the rec I am familiar with the recording but as much as I love jazz I just don't do jazz vocals. Vocals in general don't bother me it's just jazz vocals for some reason. Listening to the Lighthouse All Stars right now Live at the Lighthouse and loving it!
Here is a music rec for you guys The Stan Getz Quartet  "Live at Montreaux 1972" the quartet is Stan and Chick Corea, Stanley Clarke, and Tony Williams. Can't imagine a better band than that and though it's more of a jazz fusion style than I normally like it's really fantastic. The tune La Fiesta in particular is great, check this album out it's a tour de force for sure!
Happy Friday I hope everyone is parked in front of their system high end fuses in it or not! Would love any more jazz recs you guys can throw my way. Cheers!
Charles thanks for the rec! Listening to it now! Fantastic and so relaxing!
Frank awesome to hear from you and glad the recovery is going well! And a special thanks for interrupting the Geoffkait vs TheAudioTweak show! :-P
Cool Frank I look forward to hearing your thoughts, nothing like a bit of removal and time laid up to think to bring a fresh perspective on things. Perhaps a small silver lining to your situation.
Welcome home Frank! Glad you have some help spinning tunes and are enjoying the music! And hope it was a relaxing Memorial Day weekend!
