Despite the striking resemblance between Avalon's current Precision Monitor 4 and the Eidolon a great many changes may have been developed.
The Eidolon never impressed me at shows or stores, and there was their price. I waited until I could afford a used pair of Eidolon's for $11k that I could easily sell if they didn't work out. That was fourteen years ago. They still amaze us. If you appreciate woodworking their finish and shape has yet to grow old on us and incredibly striking to strangers to audio.
In your budget neighborhood you might find a used pair with crates. Make sure the drivers and crossovers are still available. Mine are almost 7' apart and over six feet out from the (front) wall behind them (slightly less than 1/3 of the room) with 3/16" of toe in
Vandersteen's are the only other brand that seem to provide a similar level of coherence, time and phase in my limited experience.
I was using an Earthquake and an older Velodyne DD-18 with two DD-12 Plus for a short time and finally settled on the two DDPlus. Some LP's sound better with the subs off. Digital anything the subs are always on.
Sorry I can't help with your other choices. Take care.
