Suggestions on Int.Amp w/good pre-amp & remote?

Which integrated amps are known to have a excellent pre-amp section? My budget is around $1500+/- for a used unit. A remote and pre-outs are required and a phono section would certainly be a plus, but not mandatory. Tube or SS.
I'll be using the pre-amp section to drive 300B tube amps.

What's your opinion on the best VALUE unit in the <$2000 used range?

Those would be my rec's. Just curious, why do you need an integrated as opposed to a preamp. What else is in the system?
