subbing for antenna wire

My tuner went down and has been removed for repair. Meanwhile I'm using a receiver (record out) for a tuner. It does not have the same connection for the antenna so I'm having to improvise and in part I'm using an inch or two of standard speaker wire between the antenna and the receiver. Should I bother to grab some actual antenna wire somewhere to switch out with the speaker wire?
