@gano I guess someone is pissed off at me providing realistic help to people and not just recommending just to recommend
Stereo Integrated Amp for Q Acoustics Concept 500
Hello music lovers... I recently bought a pair of Q Acoustics Concept 500 speakers. So far I'm absolutely Loving them! the difference is huge compared to the Wharfedale Aura 4 I had before. Way more honest and neutral, wider and taller soundstage, more depth and micro details. I listen mostly to CDs, classical (orchestral and chamber), jazz, some world music and some folk rock. The speakers are being powered by a Marantz Model 30 and even though I feel there is plenty of power and control, the Marantz sound is perhaps a bit too smooth for the Q acoustics (which are a bit smooth as well). was wondering if anyone would have a recommendation for an integrated amp with more dynamic power/lively, more contrast than the Marantz to try it out. The Marantz is really fine so I really don't know how much more I can extract from the speakers. Would love suggestions from folks who have REALLY compared different amps. My budget can't go beyond $5000. I thought about trying the McIntosh MA252 (maybe too warm sounding), or Anthem STR...or something from Rega? Elicit MK5? thanks in advance...
The Marantz is a bland amp. I would try the following, and as @kofibaffour said, no beast needed: Quad Vena - very musical, and gets everything just right Vincent Audio SV-500 - more detailed than the Quad, maybe less fun Creek Evo or Voyage - a bit dry but flawless in every other way. Audiolab as well, but I only know it from showrooms and reviews. The others I have owned/auditioned for weeks and months. I know this is way below your price range. I have no experience with anything north of 2K. If my ears voted they would ask for the $800 Quad Vena.

@kofibaffour this is very strange. Your comments are always reasonable and relevant and educational too. I don't remember that you got into a brawl with anyone.

@kofibaffour Could be. Or someone is trolling you flagging your posts. |
@foggyus91 I guess helping people understand impedance load and power requirements is frowned upon |
@kofibaffour I think they are out to get you. |
