Spectron Audio Out Of Business?

Hi All,

Has anyone had any contact with Spectron Audio over the last few months? I have an amp of theirs that needs repair and it seems they do not answer emails or either of their phones. You can’t even leave a phone message.

Can anyone out there suggest a technician in Los Angeles who might be able to repair a Spectron Musician amp?

Thanks.

Hi Folks!

After speaking with an audiophile who owns a Mk2 stereo Spectron, who’s also a technician, he gave me a rundown on Mr Manh. He’d been in touch with him and he informed me that Manh had gone to work with the military.

This technician was the one who actually had the idea to create a capacitor bank filled with many capacitors rather than some large ones. He shared his idea with Spectron, and viola, they decided to create amps for the Mk2 versions that way.

But also, he informed me that Manh gave him a wiring diagram (electronic layout) of the Spectron amps since he decided to move on with his career. Would this wiring diagram assist anyone in getting their amp repaired?

If so, I’ll be happy to put you in touch with him.

The first company I saw that touted multi-capacitor banks as sonically superior was Modular Electronics(known as ME) in Australia during the 1980s.
