Speaker jumper configuration

I saw this one here http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?spkrfull&1174930833. Can you do this configuration with all speakers ( with 2 pairs of binding post). For example, i have tyler LSS speakers, can i use this speaker jumper configuration? Im just curios.

If I'm not mistaken, you are essentially shorting out the speaker when you do this with a standard crossover. What are you trying to accomplish?
