Speaker for MC-501

I'd suggest some B&W N802D or the N803D. I think the B&W speakers do a great job with vocals.

How about...

Dali Helicon 400mk2 or 800mk2 (ribbon tweeter combo is great for vocals)

I am using JM Lab Alto Utopias. I like the combo. The MC501's were revieved with JM Lab Nova Utopias when the 501's won product of the year in 2003.
You can get the Alto Utopias for half of their retail right now brand new at Audio Unlimited in Denver as well as Singer in New York as they are being replaced with the new Utopia III line. The retail was $22,000 at their last pricing and they can be had for new for about $11,ooo now.

I had the 501's a few years ago and they were not a good match with my speakers, a buddy had the JL Labs Utopias, and they now reside at his house. There were, and are, a perfect match.

I'm using Canton reference 1 with 501 and c46. It is a very detailed speaker, live sound and strong bass. I had a good deal of a demo pair. In the future I will hear JM lab utopia 3 la scala, Wilson maxx 2 (3 is coming but it will be more expensive) and maybe Martin Logan CLX, (new sound for me?).

IMO..I would agree with the Focal choice,a friend of mine has the Altos w/501s and it sounds very musical from top to bottom..Im not a fan of the 802d and never would recommend it.
