Speaker Cover Cloth?

Hey thanks guys. Leaning towards tukicovers. So the problem we are having now  is my speakers (ns5000) are near the entrance of my room and a couple times my wife slightly brushed against the metal speaker grill which is magnetically attached. But this attachment is not that strong so the grill slides off and almost scratched the driver and finish. I freaked out but luckily nothing damaged. 

I'm hoping to take the grills off and just slide on the tuki cover and the half inch thick foam should offer better protection I hope.

Any other thoughts?

Is there any way to electrify the speakers? Maybe one of those dog fences.

I use two flannel queen size pillow cases when I go out of town for a week or more.

If I were doing this, I’d head over to the local fabric store, pick out something that worked with the room/wife, some batting, some interior liner, and go to the bulletin board/store owner and pick out somebody who does furniture type stuff (cushions, pillows). Give them the dimensions (even a cutout to accommodate cable) and have something that’s a bit less industrial.

My fear with kids is that they’d be lulled into a false sense of security, and you might find that fabric doesn’t stop baseball bats or darts very well the next time you pull off the cover! YMMV.

Believe it or not, for speaker covers, I went with a large soft fabric laundry bag which was purchased from Walmart. Use it to cover my Avalon Asendants when they are not being used. An inexpensive solution that works.

Anymore thoughts on this. I'd like a cover to protect the finish from scratches or cats.

I would try to find a seamstress or quilter in your local area and have them make you something. Visit a sewing store and ask around.

I made some nice acoustic panels using fabric from Guilford of Maine. They make acoustically transparent fabric with many colors/ patterns. You can even order samples.

Actually, I did have a large cabinet made, which also included two side compartments just big enough for the speakers. Not ideal soundwise I know...
I just had an episode where one of the speakers shattered, and I am speculating that having the speaker in an enclosure may have set up enough vibrations to cause the problem. Anyway, no more cabinet for me- but I just want to protect the nice finish of the speakers from any accidents.
Still looking for a nice cloth cover- surprised that more of us on the forum don't use any kind of slip cover.

No need for the cloth.give the kids a rundown on how to use the remote.& If the speakers aren't to hi they can use them to put there peanut butter and jelly sandwiches on them..just a thought..

Marakanetz-that's funny. It made think maybe about the protective cage for musicians in rowdy southern biker bars in front the speakers.

I would suggest building box-cabinette around speaker with pad-locked door.
If you need to listen you can open the cabinette and enjoy the music while your eye is on your system.
