Well you certainly dove off the classic and highly valued Mc vintage amp deepend.... they all have virtues for sure
my favorite is the 240 but of course I have a bias since I have been listening to it off and on since 1965
i have run a fairly wide variety of speakers with it - Bozak, Quad ESL, KEF, Klipsch Cornwall, Apogee Stage, Dynaco A-25, now Vandersteen 1ci...
i use a 110Z
you can find it in virtual systems if ya like
Tastes are opinions, but IMO there is of course some very well recorded Dead : MFSL WorkingMans and of American Beauty can challenge systems and be solid references...
the 240 is capable of a lot but how loud you listen will certainly drive much of your choices....
i am an accused Vandersteen fan-boy, I own three pairs, heading to four soon
try used pair of Quattro or 5a in the larger room
Treo or VLR on sound anchor stands in the small
have fun
yoyr quest is cool !!!
