Spatium Audio review

1. My perspective on music
Music brings me joy, can touch and brings me back to my youth. My set reproduces only music, no amp or cable is heard. I can forget everything and loose myself in music. 
For reproduction of lifelike music, it is nescecary not to hear closed in boxed sound.
I had the best results with every cable unshielded and the earth cut away from the power cords. Copper is more natural than silver in my set. No Rhodium. Gives a tiny sharp edge.
Most speakers i hear, i could not live with (Wilson Puppy / Avantgarde). Though I love Harbeth and open baffle constructions, for the sheer reason that no box or thin wooden speaker box leaves the music free. I also love the old Quad ESLs and Shindo Labs.
My set is the holy grail for acoustic chamber music, voices. Not for pop or rock. But I don’s listen to that.

Musical Affairs Crescendo:
Famous full range, open baffle speaker from Hans Kortenbach (Musical Affairs). Excels in delivering a natural and musical sound that brings nothing but the emotion of being present. The speaker uses the famous PHY HP unit from Bernard Salebert. Sensitivity > 94 dB (suitable for SET or low powered class A amplifiers). Measures: 105 (h) x 36 (w) x 49 (d).

I use it with a modified set of Sun Audio pre and monos, modified 47 Labs Shigaraki transport and modified DDDAC with Western Electric parts. Copper interlinks and Gold Digital cable. Power cables are Furutech with Audio Consulting 200VA Isolation Transformers for the transport and Dac. See above.
I previously owned Harbeth SHL5, heard the 40.2 and for example Avantgarde Duo's. The don't come near the realism and love the Crescendo’s breathe into the room. 

3. Spatium Audio
In the year 2011, Spatium Audio has developed a technology which improves the sound of violins, pianos and even of the human voice. I don’t know how it works, but before Hans Kortenbach, the amazing person who built my speakers, died he let me hear the Spatium Audio Room Device. It was awesome, like a magnet that centered the music from room acoustics. Moved it 1 meter to the right and centering of the music sounded differently. Very easy to hear. So I was interested to try products from Spatium Audio some day.
That day arrived and I started with the filter modules which are customised for my set and later for each device.
The great thing is that you can test the Spatium Audio products for 4 weeks. It it does not have effect in your set you can return it.

4. Spatium Audio Power Modules
From the website of Spatium Audio:

The "Spatiumaudio Crystal Clear Filter" contain three seperate modules wich are especially matched with the requirements of the hot/phase, neutral/zero and the safety earth conductor.
The innovation is based on a conductor wich is polished to a very low surface roughness. This conductor is surrounded by a matrix of different metals and minerals wich are encapsulated/ sealed in a box to secure and lock them into position.
In addition, there is a chip at the bottomside of the case of the filter wich regulates the function of the modules. The chip is exactly matched to your hardware requirements and allows tonal fine tuning.
The parameters in the chip are custom programmed to each client.

1 Module:
I ordered one module for my set in a way I could built my own IEC inlet and IEC outlet. Here is what I found (it was amazing):
I came back from vacation and the IEC inlet has arrived. Screwed it all together.

I just started listening for 30 minutes. I am allready amazed. Very enthousiastic. I can hear the music flowing like never before! Apparantly they need 8 hours to break in, but I could hear the effect immediatly.

The module really 'finished' the set. It is my biggest upgrade and when i am at work i allready look forward to being at home to listen again. It sounds so real transparant, lovely, notes decay like they should etc. It sounds like music in real life. The modules have filled the gappes that were in my set, I didn’t even know.

3 Modules:
I was so amazed that my fantastic set could sound even (way) better. Next thing I ordered 3 modules. I use one for the dac one for the 47lab and one for the preamp. The source are always the greatest benefit Anton told me.The modules are in cardboard boxes for safety for children. It doesnt look pretty just yet :).

Biggest thing right now is that the music is more Engaging. It is so obvious Ane Brun is sitting in front of me, I constantly get images of her singing. To me this is how I chose my speakers and gear, when the images appear magic is happening, a sign I am not listening to electronics. 

Another word that comes to mind is Maturity. I notice it sounds more real. Also more definition.

Other words that come to mind are more transparancy. Speakers are completely gone. More air. Fluid and open. Where the system module was just fluid for most.

Better separation/ placement / size is more realistic.

More direct.

Yes! Every note sings through the room. Goosebumps, touching. Even my girlfriend said this was beautifull now (constantly the same music. Especially 'Suzanne - from Herman van Veen).

Best of both worlds.

5. Spatium Audio Room Clavis
Same thing with room tuning, I have a lot of glass in my living room and little damping.
There are 3 versions for different room shapes and square meters.
My room is 4x7m plus a 5m2 kitchen. So 33m2. With huge windows behind the speakers and behind the listening position. Too bad.

With the Room module: Simply amazing. I dont know what to say. Today at work i was like a little kid wanting to go home to listen again. Finally its like reflections dont matter anymore:

- placement of instruments is way better

- the music flows more lush into the room

-air around instruments is more and just right

-no negativisme from reflections anymore?

-music is more free. That is very very obvious.

-soundstage is wider more separated from the speaker. More laidback but also more into the room. Just like a new big bubble where sounds are just right and free. Natural, soundstage is the way it was recorded.

I did not expect this big enhancement from the clavis room. Offcourse I was positive before trying. But it exceeds my expectations.

6. Spatium Audio Oscillator Crystal
Then a new product:
“Its the smallest clavis 1cm x 1 cmm and would be placed on Oscillators in Cd Players, Streamer, Audio Computer and Dacs. The effects are a shock, it sounds not digital or analog, it sounds like the mastertape. The only thing I must know (In what gear, Oszillator frequency, What kind of oszillator)
In the transport are 2 possible ways to mount the chip, in the dac thera are 4. I dont know the crystal orientation in the tentlabs clock so you have to test all 4 possiblities. The optimal position sounds allways much better than the other positions”

I immediatly noticed a difference in the human voice. Wow!
Listening to Ane Brun Temporary Dive. It is so much easier to listen to her voice. It sounds more forward where the music sounds further away. More depth.

Like the last sharp edges are gone. Her voice sounds like her voice. My girlfriend says there is more peace. I can hear the vibrato in her voice with a new curiosity. It is more human like.

It sounds rounder.

There is more air. The soundstage has more depth and width. That is why i focus on her voice now. It is so much more in front. I havent listened to the instruments :). Less sssssss in the voice.

This is a fantastic upgrade. Ease natural round humanlike transparancy air peace warm glow, like everything slowed down or stress is gone. And my system allready was beautifull.

I get the association of gold.

I tried 4 positions in the dac for the crystal. 2 left which I am still trying to determine which i like better. It really comes down to more beauty in tone, more engagement. The big Ooh Aah was yesterday with the crystal in the transport.
Yes. Now I can hear it right away and have the right position. Better separation, more resolution, instruments are more defined, I can shake hands with the singer, more quiet background.

7. Future and afterword
What i would really like to try is the Clavis Speaker from Spatium Audio and maybe the corner products.
I would love if some other persons with different sets could try these products so we can share some conclusions or have a conversation about these amazing products. Just try and sent back is an option too. 
In my oppinion people should know about these products fort hey really give the set the authentic energy back in a way I really don’t understand but is very clear.
