Some tables have soul and some not

Why is that? Do you think it is always very subjective?
Say, Nottingham Spacedeck does have it and SME does not even if in some respects SME can be called a better or depending on model much better table.
Thoughts, opinions, name callings ?

Well, most music that is out there has no or very little soul, classical or not. So much junk.
There is always peace to be found on the other side of war, isn't it? That's what wars are all about - to find peace.
Rhythm is perhaps a foundation of music but not a "location" of soul of it. And much music actually lacks anything that could be called that.
As for turntables being machines made by humans, well, first of all people are machines too just of a very different type and second exactly because things are made by people they have soul too, or they don't.
Atheism is a religion too, if you know what I mean.
Both BMW and Lexus are good engineering, but the former usually has soul and the latter has not. Mercedes is somewhere in between. Same with Hi-Fi, probably even more complex. Good engineering doesn't hurt, true.
Ebm, you sound near psychotic. Why don't you go spin a few records, you have a good turntable?
"Do cable risers have soul?"
In a metaphorical sense they do. Oh yeah.
Ebm, now you sound normal. Glad I could help. Maybe I am not such a nasty guy arter all.
Some of you should really get a pair or two of Diesel jeans advertised here. Just make sure that they are made in Italy not Tunisia.
So..even if a component has soul it takes an effort, sometimes a great effort to bring it out. Just like with people.
He calls himself Orpheus10 and we have no idea what it means. As for "classical music has no soul", this statement does require elaboration. I myself don't like classical music either, with some very rare exceptions, though I can appreciate the musicianship of classical performers. But then again I don't like "classical jazz" either.
He is on a "soul searching" quest and looks for what he needs everywhere including in threads about nothing.
But let's consider the idea that particular pieces of equipment and speakers can be voiced for and geared toward certain types of music. I could say that my speakers are definitely better with acoustic music and my amp doesn't really care. When it comes to turntables it is tough, I think, to assess that, but I would not dismiss the possibility that it can be done.
Bach's music always got my attention. It obviously has soul and a very complex one. That doesn't mean that I fully like this soul but I do resonate with it. I think that he is the greatest classical composer. Every piece of other kinds of Western music including heavy metal contains elements of classical music at one level or another, in a more subtle or open way.
Thuchan, do you also think that RTR decks differ in this respect?
I think, that in a somewhat simplified way Orpheus10 got it right.
Rok2id, thank you for calling me stupid and for your active participation.
Nandric, I am glad that you took us in the direction of God particle, or Higgs boson. What Europeans, and Americans by the way, do in their efforts to find it, is the most ridiculous, expensive and potentially very dangerous thing I've ever heard about. They want to f... with God without a slightest idea of the consequences. Not to mention without the slightest idea of what God might "think" of it. Such idiots. Every particle or whatever is God particle.
France has no soul? Or too much of it for you?
You called my thread silly, Rok2id, that's very close.
If you are right, let's hope they do create a blackhole that will swallow that land. But you know Switzerland is right there too and may follow France. Any fan of soulful Swiss music here? Personally, I have no idea of Swiss music at all. They make a lot of audiophile stuff though.
By the way, incidentaly I just bought a pair of excellent French jeans, incidentaly because I was looking for Italian but ran into French. Even if France vanishes soon, I hope my jeans won't. How do I say in French: "Anything but my jeans!" ?
"religion has nothing to do with science".
The one who says it understands exactly nothing.
Nandric is suffering from what is called philosofical intoxication. That's why he makes no sense. There isn't by definition any sense in this kind of though process. As a consequence, people like that cannot positively contribute to the discussion, an even negatively.
As Roman senators could say: " There are better things than war" and would go to the brothel with the best on-site musicians. And they would be absolutely right, I think.
That's the point. If that German table did everything "right" but you didn't want to listen to it because it sounded wrong to you, the table in fact did everything right except the most important thing we are talking about here.
Nandric, what a wonderful arrogance. What makes you think that you are capable of understanding any argument that I might present? Your posts both in this thread and others strongly suggest that it is a very unlikely event.
In addition, I am not talking about religion in a usual sense. We are trying to discuss the phenomenon which is not easily understood if at all. At least, I think, a sufficient number of posters agree that this phenomenon does exist. That's the beginning.
While talking about turntables, somehow we pushed in the background the fact that those turntables are designed and made by particular people.
Just as in ancient and not so ancient Japan, each Japanese sword made even by the same master was different, and as far as I know, those masters destroyed those swords that in their opinion didn't come out quite right, that's, had no soul. So in this sense I would say that there are no inanimate objects made by man, there is a certain transmission of something from man to created objects.
Splendid. You don't have much faith in your collective soul. What happened to that wild Serbian spirit in you I was talking about? No wonder that the subject of the discussion is totally incomprehensible to you for now. But you want to comprehend, that's why you keep participating and that's why I keep responding to you.
As for your surprise with what I know, I am surprised with that. How can you possibly know what I know and what I don't? As we say it in America - assumption is the mother of all f...-ups. And as you say it in Europe - f...-up is the mother of all assumptions. Both are correct.
Rok2id, please, let's stop that firing. Don't open fire, don't return fire, just no fire. There is no need, no threat of any kind. Firing destroys "soul". Now I sound like a preacher. Let's just continue with our exploration of the subject. Which is mysterious, unknown, possibly uknowable and yet quite real.
Playing Master copy on Studer 820. Now that's audiophile dream.
No-one is born a warrior, everyone is born a baby. To become a warrior is a way of never to grow up, to play with toys forever.
Serbia was invaded many times by Turks, was invaded by Nazi Germany too but never surrended. That's a fact. They have this wild spirit of resistance. Very much like mountain tribes in Pakistan.
Holland is a very liberal society though got a little harder recently as I heard. Actually just about any place I hear about is getting harder. Just imagine what will happen if they do find that God particle and keep playing with that stuff. Boys with toys, that's for sure. As someone said, what we study we change, and we have no idea how.
So..before buying a turntable we should try to understand the designer, and ourselves.
And prostitution too. Look at Europe, in most countries it is legal or what they call tolerated though officially illegal. After all this is one of the most respected professions.
By the way, the current president is not black, he is half black/half white.
What? Killing people is better than prostitution? By the way, Inna's soul contains the desire to kill as well, it is just not predominant desire.
What is going on in good old Bavaria? Ah, I got it. In Bavarian language there is no word for love, that's the root problem.
Frogman and Rnadell, have you taken a leave of your senses? Why are you whining?
Thuchan, you mean Continuum turntable? Does it have a very special Australian spirit? Australia is more than a country, it's a continent.
Thuchan, about Bavarian language. I of course don't speak it either. A few months ago I read an article on BBC news by a British scholar who studies rare European languages. He has been travelling all over Europe for decades doing it. That's how I know what I said.
Isn't it interesting that only Europeans are remaining in this conversation?
Marakanetz, you better move to the Netherlands, what keeps you?
Thuchan, I knew that in your heart you prefer Continuum to other tables. There is something special in what those mates down under do and make.
Tibet should be protected at all costs, if it's gone we will be gone too.
No, I am not going to beam up when we finally arrived at the subject of women, in a very roundabout way.
Thuchan, I salute your exotic taste. Oriental people have an enigma.
Geoch, you are more than right about weed, it is in fact a way to close one's mind.
How about this?
A man comes to see a psychiatrist.
- Doctor, I must be lesbian!
- Why do you say it?
- There are so many nice boys but I still very much prefer girls!
Oh hell, you people just can't stop talking about military. All right. Since a war in Europe is nearly impossible, it should be taken somewhere else, correct?
Let the gods of war speak and scream. Iraq is coming to the end, who is next? And don't tell me no-one. Those imbiciles up there will figure something out. But if they touch Iran we should all pray. Anyone has an idea what they are capable of if they get offended. This would be the ultimate f..... nightmare, believe you me.
Here is some art diplomacy. Let's honour our friends in far away land our way.
Nandric, welcome back. Relax, no-one is going to threaten Holland, everyone needs at least one Red Light country. But if need arises I will protect the Netherlands with all my audiophile madness too and will spare no cartridges, records and cables to beat the f... out of those shitheads who might have a stupidity to interfere with that gay march you mentioned.
Long live..whatever wants to live!
The music I promised:
http://youtu.be/wvbuR-i9NlM
Right.
Anyone here likes women?
Now I am thinking what kind of turntable I would want to have that woman on. Definitely direct drive, no bloody belts. Should be very very stable. Any suggestions? And of course that table should have soul, oh yeah.
I suggest we leave Germany alone. It may be difficult for Thuchan to participate.
This is a forum for audiophiles to discuss various subjects related to them.
The biggest "crap" is for someone who doesn't really participate to jump in, call others names , and quickly jump out before giving himself a chance to get engaged in the discussion too.
Yeah, that was a good joke, Nandric.
I ran into this Greek song and liked it:
http://youtu.be/oy9OxlVdUwA

Geoch, what is she saying? There is sensuality in her voice.
I think, I should follow my own advice to Marakanetz and move to the Netherlands - I definitely prefer this to militarism and destruction.
Nandric, thank you. Often "wild people from the mountains" have gentle soul and hospitality.
Rok2id, you should not force the invitation, this decision is up to the host. As is the timing of it. Not exactly a modern American approach, I know.
Nandric, you are too uptight, this distorts your perception of what I say. "wild people from mountains" was more of a compliment than otherwise. If I had wanted to say what you thought I might've said, I would've said "barbarians". I didn't say anything of the kind.
I myself am pretty wild too.
He cannot leave his Colt at home because you said that you could, which means would, get AK-47 in Bosnia for $150.
Geoch, thank you very much.
I made a mistake by asking you to translate her words.
Now I want that woman even more. What am I supposed to do about it? Stupid, that was very stupid of me.
Timeltel, I think you are taking us into very dark territory. Playing with "Colt" and "AK-47" is one thing but what you suggest we discuss is totally different. It is also a very complicated subject. We would have to go deep into history too. And be very very reserved and mutually respectful despite potentially big disagreements.
I don't mind, what do the others think?
Rok2id, after some of your posts I definitely need a drink.
Scotch, shaken not sturred.
To add to what Nandric said, there was a very strong resistance movement in France. We should remember those people.
Good evening, gentlemen.
This is my way to honour those French who cannot hear it for themselves. Let us do it for them and celebrate life.

http://youtu.be/N09VEKI30GQ
Rok2id, some people do want to participate but don't know how. Frogman is one of them. Let them find their own way, whatever this is.
Thuchan,
Exactly. I like your very relevant straightforwardness and clarity of thought.
No we shouldn't ignore them but nor should we pay much attention to them if they continue like that.
Why would anyone need an assault rifle in Canadian outdoors? A good rifle, yes, but machine gun?
