So you just took a gummie...What song is on the menu?

While I’m not one to scoff at the Moody Blues (On the Threshold of a Dream as good as anything from the era) or anything 60’s related, this thread needs some modern touches. Check out The National, Wilco, The War on Drugs, and Wooden Shjips just to name a few.

NON (Boyd Rice) GOD & BEAST

Dissecting Table ZIGOKU

Rowland S Howard TEENAGE SUNFF FILM

Catherine Wheel CHROME

I haven’t partaken in any cannabis for decades, but if I did take that gummy, it certainly wouldn’t be just one song on my menu.

It lasts for hours, after all...

So, I would have full buffet of songs lined up.

Among my choices would be:

Yes - Close to the Edge

King Crimson - Larks Tongue in Aspic, Red, Starless and Bible Black

Mahavishnu Orchestra - Inner Mounting Flame, Lost Trident Sessions

The Contortionist - Language

Eberhard Weber - Colours of Chloe

Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays - As Falls Wichita, So Falls Wichita Falls

PFM - Per un Amico

Gong - Gong's "Flying Teapot" trilogy is pretty much designed to accompany this sort of experience.

And since I wasn’t into contemporary, atonal and avant-garde classical music back in the days when I did partake, I would certainly line up some choices from this, too.

I would expect the overall complexity of this stuff to benefit from being under the influence.

Such as:

Elliott Carter - Concerto for Orchestra (1969), Piano Concerto (1965), or many more

Charles Wuorinen - 4th Piano concerto (2003), Iridule for oboe and six players (2006)

Or Bruno Maderna, Joan Tower, Unsuk Chin, Magnus Lindberg, and others.

I sadly didn't see any in this thread that I haven't tried before, all good though. I'll add a few more to enjoy:

Mazzy Star

JJ Cale (I always thought he was better then Clapton...)

David Bromberg

And yeah, although I'm over 60, I'll be in my 20's for the rest of my life.
