single ended to balanced

I've tried 3 and 4 wire connections for headphones- the 4 wire (balanced) definitely sounds better!

Personally I would think there would be no benefit other than the output from balanced is greater than single ended. That being said we are talking about headphones (ear speakers) which I don't think it has any balanced circuitry to take advantage of the 'noise canceling' that balanced is known for.

As far as someone to do that have you contacted the manufacturer of the headphones?
