sibilence in right channel on occasion

Every so often when a singer sings an 's' i also hear it almost separately and louder in the right channel. It doesn't always happen but I notice it often.

Is this the record? The stylus? something else?

Misalignment or anti-skating are the most likely suspects.

It's quite rare for cables to be the culprit based on your description.
