Should I Upgrade to Latest HDMI?

My processor is a Datasat LS10. It has a 4K HDMI board, but it is not the latest which is HDR compatible.

My projector is only 1080p, so at least for now the HDR is no advantage. I am wondering if down the road the upgrade is worth it?

My screen is 123” diagonal and I sit back 14ft. I’ve read that for my screen size and seating distance HDR is not really noticeable unless I eventually purchase a projector with extremely high lumens (expensive!)

Is it worth it to get the newer HDR compatible board?

Thanks guys. I’ll probably go with the new board. I’ve been reading lately about HDMI and the differences as you move upward through the latest versions. Sounds like 2.0a should hold me for a while as it is HDR compatible. The version I have now is only 2.0; good for 4K but not HDR.
Somebody maybe look at "callmejacklogan" as it seems he is a spam or robot, possibly.
You should upgrade to the latest HDMI as it will enable you to enjoy the latest features. Features like vibrant colors, brighter than the previous one. If you don't have any financial related problem then you should upgrade and enjoy the fullest. Thanks and Regards,  panda helper  emu4ios  gbwhatsapp

HDR is noticabke regardless of viewing distance, you are probably thinking about 4K, but for your setup, you would still benefit from 4K, as you get full 1080p at ~30° viewing angle, and you are at ~35.5°.

HDR gives a few benefits:

* Brighter highlights
* More precise colors/brightness (more bits to represent more shades)
* Wider color gamut (think of 1080p as only getting as saturated as pink, whereas HDR can get as saturated as red, but to a lesser extent).

All that being said, I’d wait until you upgraded your projector.
