Listener57, Here is the owner manual. http://www.iconic-av.co.uk/manuals/Beogram_RX-2-Owners_Manual.pdf See, "Setting up after unpacking". Note, the platter should be locked in place by 3 rim brakes. 3 transports screws lock the spring suspension in place. Cheers, Jim |
Joel - For the Tone arm see this link for arm support http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bang-Olufsen-Beogram-RX2-Turntable-with-MMC5-Cartridge-needs-tip/13201890703... For the platter I would layer a coule of pieces of "pink" so that they hold the platter in place and use the lid to prevent the platter/pink from coming out - you could t a couple of pieces of foam over the platter to prevent bounce Looks like B&O leaves the platter in place from the pics in the link above Hope that helps |
Thank you Steve, With this belt drive and both the platter and tonearm supported on the same spring- supported sub-chassis, how best to prevent the tonearm from constantly trying to jump due to the underlying spring? If the "pink" is inserted between the rigid top plate/top surface of the turntable and the sub-chassis can this prevent trampoline jumping in transit? Is the platter packed separately so it doesn't add mass to the sub-chassis during shipping? Also, the clear attached plastic dustcover cannot be removed according to an acquaintance who could not put the cover back on once it was removed. so best to leave attached. (When record being played, the dust cover is temporarily way up out of the way for better sound.) Sorry that there are more questions, but ignorance is not audio bliss. Joel |
The best material I have used for packaging is the 1/2 inch "Pink" polystyrene foam used for house insulation... - you can easily cut it with a carpet knife for a very custom fit - it absorbs lots of shock - it can take a pretty hefty blow from a sharp object without penetration - you can "hot glue" it in order to build a custom shape - It's really cheap You can go with a 1" thickness, but it's overkill Use a two-ply cardboard box to start - then hot-glue one layer of 1/2 inch of "pink:" to sides and bottom. Double up to 1" if you think you'll need it Cut "Pink" spacers to prevent table from moving in the box Put a small piece of "Pink" under the cartridge end of the arm and tape in place for support and prevent the arm from moving intransit. Make sure the platter is secure Good Luck - Steve |
