Schumann Resonator

I got 2 of these from Amazon...careful that free returns are applicable.  I charged them up, turned them on and holy moly.....they do help with my system.   What I hear is clarity....space between instruments, a definite difference in upright and electric bass, wider soundstage...you know...all the good stuff. At first I thought it might be increased brightness, but no....it is still the same in that regard.  I still can't believe it, and will listen again tomorrow (saved the packaging for the return)...but today, I'm about to keep them.

I bit. Four cheap ones are coming to try. If they fail in audio but make my wife sleep better it's still a win. I have a high confidence level though, based only on those who have actually heard them in use. $45 del'd/4 so no worries on my end if no results. If one or two are enough I have spares. I remain open-minded on this.

Thanks to all who have tried them and reported back, favorably or not. Their information is of value. As for the rest (with lots of opinions and facts or non-facts), I'm unsure what dog you have in this fight over whether they work. Seems you won't know either way if you don't ever hear one. And we sure have worn out the track with repeated laps...

I am interested if anyone has any experience with the SRs that generate a square wave versus a sine wave. I am wondering about the possible differences between the two based on some comments on 'pain' with square wave resonators. Thoughts based on real experiences are what I'm interested in. Possibly educated theories could apply. Thanks much!

millercarbon-   Thank you for going through your observations upon acquiring the initial units and the following ones. Had I decided to invest a lot more money I'd have read a lot more literature first, but $15/45....
I don't get headaches so expect that I'd notice anything going on up there (although some claim very little activity normally..  ;-)   I will keep an eye on our two cats and my wife and will probably put the units into use with only myself being aware, and give it some time. I will most assuredly post on what 'we' find whether it is positive or negative or nothing at all.

For me it was easy math. Too many folks have reported audible musical and/or sleep enhancements to discount them all as quacks. I ignore most of the more idiotic tweaks and snake oil products sold in the audio domain. And most of those are a bit more than $10 each, so I'll take my chances on the SR units.

And if I don't hear an improvement (even after weeks) the tweak is gone. No pixie dust to change my brain and perception. I like blind and double-blind testing at times, which scares the crap out of the guys who cannot readily identify changes if they don't know the gear being used (funny).    But I also do a lot of long term testing on any changes, days or weeks at a time; I think that 'living with' testing has a place.

With the obscene amount of money spent on connecting wires/cables I have no qualms dropping a few bucks on a tweak that may well offer audibly discernible improvements.    As for those who have never heard one, for good or bad; they really have no useful input for this discussion as I see it.

Very good to hear, dhite. Mine will take longer to arrive but I'm never in a hurry. If they improve sleep or audio, it's a win. If not, so what; nothing lost that mattered.

I'm smiling at your GSR reference. First new car was '87 Int.LX and I kept it 29 years and loved driving it every mile. Can't forget how impressed BMW 318 owner friend was at everything it offered, especially fit & finish.

Even without the required proof, my mind can accept the minimal science (so far) behind the SR concept, and also that perhaps mankind does not know everything about everything yet...   I'll wait and listen!
I sleep like a rock (my wife doesn't and hates me for it :-)
I want those darn things for my stereo first!
Better sleepy-time for my spouse would be a nice bonus.
(Just don't make me choose one benefit!)

bobby1945-  Thanks for your post. I value input from the 'others' in the home that don't normally pay attention. By your statement, it appears that your younger 'other' (normally folks with decent hearing) knew there had been a change. Curious if it was an unsolicited comment.  Regardless, nice to hear of your experience.

At some point when mine arrive I'll do some A/B listening with them off/on. I do want to know if there's anything going on. I'll gladly tell you all that I wasted $45 if that's the case (you see, it's not a problem), and it may well be; results seem to vary by human.

Perhaps I'll even ask my wife to turn them of or on for me without me knowing. I'm guessing some of you will still want me to identify 99 of 100 tries for anything to be valid.  You make me laugh at how entrenched your thinking is but too each...  I like A/B, blind or not, and long term.

+1  Lyle Mays (R.I.P.)   Pat and Lyle are my favorite modern composers/artists.
my bad for not refreshing after a day. the offered opinion:

"Interesting. I thought the SR devices do not affect the sound or the listening environment, they only relax the listener so the music becomes more enjoyable. Are you that easily affected that a change in mood can be turned on-off like a switch with immediate results?"

Perhaps you thought wrong about the SR devices. It's possible from your limited understanding of what's been published. It's bliss, I'm sure.
