Satisfied with your DIY power cord?

Has any1 built a power cord and really satisfied with the result?
Ok, Ok, may I rephrase it?
Has any1 built a P/C and really satisfied with the result WHEN compared with a big name brand ones?
Which brands did you compare it with and where did you buy your DIY cords from, HomeDepot?

Hi !

I've build a 10feets power cord with entry level Wattgate 15 A & 20 A and Belden double shilded for my Richard Gray RM 600 Pro, for around 150$ at part-express. Similar cable from Richard Gray was around 600 to 800$. Compare to the original one I got in the box, I notice a real difference in all range, specially deep and more precise bass frequencies.

Overall I'm very satisfied and will try other in the future.
"I'm not saying solid core is better than stranded, I don't know. Just wondering."

You are wondering, me too. I find some identical solid core copper wires as MableShade.com at my work and I will give it a try and compare them with my DIY stranded wire when a dozen of IEC and male plugs arrive here sometimes next week.
One thing that I have noticed from DIY with stranded wires, though they are all same 14 awg, ones with 3 conductors that already well packed in a rubber hose from manufacture(OD: half inch) sound tighter and warmer than those single (individual) ones. Regardless how I braided them or leave them as is, they still sound more open and airy than the packed in rubber hose ones. However, ones that are braided have less noise than non-braided wires.
As long as we're talking DIY PCs, has anyone tried Oyaide EE/F-S 2.6 (10 ga) or EE/F-S 2.0 (12 ga) solid core power cable? Just curious how they compare to Oyaide Tsunami, which I believe is stranded. I think the Neotech PC wires are stranded as well. I believe the quality of the copper is similar in all these wires.

Rja, I did connect the shield drain to the ground at the IEC end leaving it off at the Power Outlet end as I was advised.

The cost is just under $100/meter and I used 1.5 Meters. The plugs were just over $130 each. I do have two acoustic Zen PC's and tested a Siltech SPX-30. Not perhaps a very wide variety so hopefully others will offer more information.
I have it running from an Oyaide R-1 Ac Outlet into a PS Audio Duet thru which I power the Amp with the AZ Tsunami and the AZ Krakatoa feeding the Resolution Audio Opus 21. Before introducing the DIY cable I was using the stock cord which had come with the PS Audio Duet, a very thick heavy gage common electronic utility power cord much like you have with a Computer. When I introduced the Oyaide cable The apparent Volume level dropped so dramatically I wondered if I hadn't mis-wired it. It took just a little burn in and a resetting of the volume to find substantially increased firmness in Bass response and a markedly quieter background so while I didn't have extensive comparative testing I concluded I would likely not be more pleased except perhaps with the Neotech Silver cable which is nearly $1,000/meter.
My AZ power cords both have their shield drain wire connected to ground on the male plug only. I just checked my Audio Horizon cord and the shield wire is also connected to ground on the male plug only. Hmmmmm...
Ardri,
Did you connect the shield drain wire to ground? If so, on which end (or both)? Thanks!
I have a DIY made with Neotech NEP 3200 cable and Wattgate 350i and 330i. Easily surpases a Shunyata Cobra, my present choice vs. a Black Sand Silver Ref. V on my preamp. This cord is also very competitive with all the other more expensive PCs in my system, doubt I would feel deprived with an entire system wired with this.

Neotech supplies the wire used in the Oyaide Tunami, quite good reviews on that as well.
Ardri,
My guess is that you have the entry level one; $66 per meter? How much was it total?
Any1 can say they love their DIY P/C but I'd like to hear ones that have compared it with a popular name such Nordost, Cardas, Kimber...

Thanks Ardri
Yes but my DIY was a bit more costly than anything from Home Depot.
Oyaide Tunami cable and 004 plugs from VH Audio;
Dramatic drop in "noise floor".
