You only need 6 pairs of ICs if you want to run multi-channel.

Voodoo cables.... Audio Art... Signal cables. I've used all but the Signal Cables, but understand from several others they do a good job as ICs. I've also used and own a pair of Micro Pearls which are quite inexpensive and reviewed well in Stereophile. I prefer the Audio Art over them however, and the Voodoo as well. the AA & VooDoo have a fuller signature than do the Micro Pearls, Blue heavens, & DH labs. Both Rob (AA), and Bruce (Voo) are super people to deal with and they make great products with very good value. |
Here is another site with very nice cables for safe and sane prices [grin]: http://www.knukonceptz.com/productMaster.cfm?Category=RCA%20Interconnects They have 4 quality levels, pick the level you feel best suits your needs/budget...Good luck! -RW- |
Here ya go: 6 ft. coax digital/audio cable, nicely built with good, solid connectors. I have several sets of these and they're great. And, yes, they'll work just fine as standard audio cables. Price is per cable, you'll need 6 of these. You'll just need to mark each cable for its position as they'll all be the same color - big deal. You can get all 6 for < $30 incl. shipping: http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10236&cs_id=1023603&p_id=4659&seq=1&format=2 Don't listen to the naysayers, try 'em, they're very good cables at a whale of a price. And MonoPrice has a no-penalty return policy! -RW- |
Stramons1: I'm in the same boat. I just got myself a great preowned Marantz SACD universal player and purchased my first 4 SACDs. I need to purchase 6 two foot long each interconnects myself probably tomorrow. I've been researching this on-line tonight. I don't want to spend much money at all since I didn't plan on this and the budget is blown right now. I didn't know when I purchased the player that 6 interconnects are required for my AV Receiver (Rotel) to decode the SACD signal. I think you're in the same situation with your NAD AV receiver. The brands of interconnects are endless (Audioquest, Tara Labs, Nordost, Monster, Blue Jeans, Kimber, etc). I just don't know enough about the subtle differences as to which ones would work better with a particular brand AVR. Right now I just have 6 crappy cables (those thin ones that come in the box with every CD player or DVD player you buy) connected and I have to admit the sound is pretty darn good. It can only get much better with some decent Phillips interconnects at the Walmart or Best Buy. I don't want to spend any more than approx $60.00 for the 3 pair. I'll see when I get there. It comes down to how much you want to spend and how much you believe spending a great deal on 3 pair of interconnects will make that much difference. This remains the ageless debate about audio cables !! All the best. |
