Rolling Stones - Hackney Diamonds

How great is this recording!

I'm amazed.

I was shocked and pleased when I first heard Hackney Diamonds.  Mick and the boys made a surprisingly good album.

As a teen I was a big Stones fan. In 1979 their tour came through Chicago. I told my best bud " We gotta see the Stones. Their all mid 30's now and this will probably be their last tour". Boy was I wrong, lol. 35 was old to a 16 year old.

I have alot of their albums. Most are not great quality. Exile probably worst. Appearently it was recorded on some moble gear. Probably too much dr*gs and alc*hol for them and crew to care about quality.

Undercover is surpriseingly good on vinyl. Very clear, dynamic and that machine gun guitar riff is goes way beyond speakers.

It was a fun album when it came out now almost 2 years ago. I haven't played it in a while. I have the Dolby Atmos mix and it's the best way to experience it IMHO. Especially the track woth Lady Ga Ga.

It's just o.k. sound wise a bit bright on the mix. Most of the old Stones stuff has been remastered in SACD and is quite good on a quality player , system.
