ripping/streaming?

I never much cared for making copies of music, and have not done so since the early '80's with analog cassette tapes.

I recently got a good deal on a Roon Nucleus Plus Rev B with a 1 TB SSD. I am hoping that my fellow Audiogoner's can advise me on making the most of it

. The rest of pertinent system is Verizon fiber optical into a Verizon modem/router connected to an old laptop with built in DVD recorder disc drive  (not much faith in this transport) both of which are about 40' in a pretty straight line to the 2 channel audio rig, to which I'm hoping to connect to an ethernet switch (?) and then from the switch to the Roon Nucleus Plus Rev B  ( and other a/v gear) and then connect the Roon Nucleus to an Oppo UDP 205 as the DAC. I have a little under 2000 CD's that I'd like to load onto the Roon Nucleus's 1 TB SSD. Can my fellow Audiogoners suggest the best simple, value oriented gear, cables, software, setup, etc.to proceed. There has ben some recommendation to first rip the CD's through something like "dBpoweramp" before ripping directly to the Roon Nucleus. I'm not especially looking forward to this project, and I dislike redundancy in gear and procedure, but know that I don't know what's best.

Suggestions and help will be greatly appreciated.

+1 for dBpoweramp.  I have been using it for years.

Highly recommend that you rip your CDs uncompressed. I rip all my CDs as uncompressed FLACs (i.e. with zero compression). Zero compression will get you the best sound quality.

Now, with zero compression, you will be unable to rip all of your almost 2,000 CDs to a 1 TB SSD. But I still suggest using zero compression. Once you run out of room on your 1 TB SSD, you can always rip the remainder to an external SSD that you plug into the back of your Roon Nucleus (fyi I have a Roon Nucleus as part of my setup).
