Concur. R3’s are transparent but not too bright and clinical... Had mine for about 7 months or so and they work well with all music genres and the differences in source and recording quality are easily audible.
I run 2 Rythmik F12SE’s with mine and usually cross them at 40 HZ. I’m sure it reduces the strain on my non-audiophile amplifer (Yamaha A2080 AVR) so that the R3’s above 40 HZ have more of what they need for dynamics and transients.
I know my bass is not optimal (Seen with REW I have a big null at 100 HZ with or with out subs crossed above that), and am looking into better amplification and better room correction to help with that.
