A Lumin is also a streamer pretty hard to get a file player that isn't also a streamer. If you want something cheap try a Node or a used Auralic Aries Mini if you can find one.
Replace my Auraliti
I have a Auraliti that only plays my external hard drive flac files.
I believe it is on its way out, so I would appreciate recommrndations for something ONLY FOR playing what is on my harc drive. I have a LTA DAC, so no dac needed or wanted and I never stream.
I was thinking of a Lumin U1 mini as I do not wish to spend several thousand dollars
BTW the Auraliti runs through a Sotm SPDIF box
Thanks for your opinions in advance,
Paulie who is on his very last system.

Any of the Oppo players will read files off your hard drive and either use the internal DAC, or output SPDIF to some other DAC. The only drawback is you need a TV to view the files on the hard drive, but you may like that way better than an iPad or phone. The remote on the Oppo is used to do this. My friend uses this method and swears by it. |
Get this - HOLO AUDIO RED Audio Network Player and use either Moode Audio or RoPieeeXL (which are popular audiophile-focused Linux distributions you can install on the Red's microSD card), you can typically connect a USB hard drive or flash drive to one of the USB-A ports on the back of the Red. The software on the Red will then be able to mount and access the music files on that external drive, allowing you to browse and play them through the Red, sending the digital signal to your DAC @paulie123 |
