As far as I am concerned, it is the software as much as the players features that matter. Though there are differences, all of the name brand streamer/players sound excellent. Check out what features you want (i made an excel chart) to compare the players in my price class) and compare. Then check out the software. If you want Roon, make sure it's compatible. I didn't want Roon so the manufacturer's software was critical. I'm not a computer nerd, so players that depend on 3rd party universal programs (psaudio, Holo, Denafrips) were out. Do you use an iPad or Android tablet (not all the software work on both.) I ended up listening to the Eversolo, the Blusound and Auralic Aries and Vega in my system. Which I bought doesn't matter, you'll want to make that choice with your own ears. PS: If your dealer won't give you a home trial, shop elsewhere!
Replace my Auraliti
I have a Auraliti that only plays my external hard drive flac files.
I believe it is on its way out, so I would appreciate recommrndations for something ONLY FOR playing what is on my harc drive. I have a LTA DAC, so no dac needed or wanted and I never stream.
I was thinking of a Lumin U1 mini as I do not wish to spend several thousand dollars
BTW the Auraliti runs through a Sotm SPDIF box
